A Feminist Approach To Sensitive Research written by Tricia Ong and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-12-07 with Social Science categories.
This book explores the development and implementation of the Clay Embodiment Research Method (CERM) with one of the most stigmatized, oppressed, and marginalized groups of women in Nepal: sex-trafficked women. It argues for the use of a feminist approach to such research given the prevailing patriarchal norms, cultural sensitivity of reproductive health, stigmatization of sex trafficking, and low literacy of the women involved. Beginning with an exploration of the author’s relationship with Nepal and the women who guide the study, and the realization that a more accessible research approach was needed than the techniques otherwise commonly used, it discusses the use of clay and photography as ideal entry points to engaging with the women in the research and creating this ethical methodology for self-empowerment. Not only does the volume highlight extraordinary insights offered by the women involved in this study through the application of CERM, but also the recognition that its use requires expertise that can deal with the potential elicitation of trauma. The book makes the case for further study on improving the method’s use in research, education, and therapy involving low-literate, stigmatized, oppressed, and marginalized populations, particularly where cultural sensitivity is an important consideration. A Feminist Approach to Sensitive Research is suitable for students, scholars, and researchers in Gender Studies, Sociology, Health Studies, Anthropology, and Asian Studies.

Virtual reality (VR) is one of the technologies with the highest expectations for future growth. By creating realistic images and objects, a VR environment gives the user the impression that they are completely engrossed in their surroundings. VR applications that go beyond leisure, tourism, and marketing are now in high demand and thus the technology must be user-friendly and economical. The major technology firms are already striving to create headsets that do not require cables and that allow for high-definition viewing. Artificial intelligence is being used to control VR headsets that have far more powerful CPUs. The new standard will also offer some intriguing capabilities, like the ability to connect huge user communities and additional gadgets. Customers will be able to get photos in real-time in corporate settings, almost as if they were seeing them with their own eyes. This book presents a comprehensive overview of VR applications in medicine, electric vehicles, aviation, architecture, and more.

This open access book provides a detailed example of arts-based knowledge translation from start to finish for any scholar interested in communicating research findings through art. Firmly grounded in the GeoHumanities, a field at the intersection of cultural geography and the arts, this book explores the theory and practice of research exhibitions. Commencing with an overview of arts in health and art-science collaborations, this book also explores the concept of ‘affective knowledge translation’. In doing so, it describes the creative co-production, staging, and evaluation of the Finding Home exhibition which toured Australia during 2021. As a demonstration of the power of art to engage audiences, raise awareness of social issues, communicate lived experience, and extend the reach of cultural geographic research, this book is relevant to academics from any discipline who are keen to increase the societal impact of their work.
