Questo volume testimonia la continuità di lavoro e ricerca archeologiche sul territorio abruzzese, al di là delle riforme amministrative che dal gennaio 2016 hanno segnato a più riprese la vita degli istituti periferici del Ministero. La presentazione dei lavori si ferma volutamente all’anno 2015, quindi al momento in cui la Soprintendenza archeologica dell’Abruzzo ha formalmente cessato le proprie attività, anche se molti interventi che vengono presentati hanno continuato ad arricchirsi con nuove ricerche fino ad assumere, in molti casi, la veste finale di luoghi fruibili al pubblico e quindi rispettando in pieno il mandato normativo del Codice dei Beni Culturali e del Paesaggio secondo il quale tutela, fruizione valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale sono tutte parti di un processo complesso ma unitario. Il volume si apre con la sezione dei Contributi contenente saggi di studiosi che da un punto di vista storico e archeologico contribuiscono ad analizzare e approfondire alcuni argomenti cari all’archeologia dell’Abruzzo. La seconda parte contiene il Notiziario, suddiviso per province (L’Aquila, Chieti, Pescara, Teramo) che accoglie le relazioni degli interventi effettuati dal 2013 al 2015 dalla Soprintendenza, sia direttamente che indirettamente attraverso il controllo e/o la partecipazione a scavi, ricerche e studi di archeologia di Università, cooperative o società archeologiche, gruppi archeologici e centri di ricerca italiani e stranieri.
