En su libro ?El hombre que confundió a su mujer con un sombrero?, Oliver Sacks cuenta que, cuando presentó a ese paciente agnósico un guante, lo definió como una ?superfi-cie continua plegada sobre sí misma. Parece que tiene cinco bol-sitas que sobresalen?, pero era incapaz de dar sentido a ese ob-jeto, de verlo como un guante. A diferencia de usted, esa persona agnósica era incapaz de conocer, es decir de relacionar humana/mente el mundo, la conciencia y la carne, y por tanto también de sentir inquietud ante un guante con seis bolsitas. Una agnosia similar ha padecido el sujeto de la psicología cognitiva, capaz de procesar información abstracta, desencarnada, pero incapaz de generar conocimiento a partir de ella. La llamada revolución cognitiva pretendió reducir la mente humana a un código binario simple, un procesamiento de información que la situó en un universo plano, digital. Frente a ello, este libro nos sugiere volver humana/mente al mundo analógico, tridimensional, habitado por personas, y por guantes, con sus significados y sus deseos, supone no sólo humanizar la psicología cog-nitiva sino repensar su desarrollo reciente.
