Positive psychologists have proven that positivity leads to success, but most Christians in America have chosen to believe a single eschatological theory that leads to pessimism and cynicism. Pessimistic Christians put themselves in Christian bubbles and focus on self-preservation, and when a mind is clouded by negativity, interpretations of biblical prophecy lean toward the pessimistic possibilities. The fantastic writing of the Left Behind books has popularized premillennial dispensationalism with good intentions, but that interpretation of biblical prophecy teaches that sinfulness will continually increase until Jesus throws up his hands in disgust and secretly raptures worthy Christians, leaving behind unworthy sinners to suffer the wrath of the antichrist. Teaching that questionable theory produces negativity that hinders the Christian mission. When Christians believe that they cannot succeed in leading most of the world to Jesus, they will fail to put in the effort that success would require. Jesus, on the other hand, taught his followers that nothing will prevail over his church, and that teaching inspired them to sacrifice everything for the Christian mission. This is not a promise of prosperity without effort or of inevitable success, but biblical positivity is an energizing force that will help Christians flourish.

As leaders, our capacity to hear is often muddied by an inability to acknowledge our own insufficiencies and emotions. Jesus knew his God-given purpose and emotional character so deeply that he was able to operate out of these foundations boldly and instinctively. Jesus's infallible Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) allowed him to focus on a third concept called "Audience Quotient" (AQ): an individual's ability to focus consistently, completely, and effectively on others. As a church, we are failing a twenty-first-century culture that is defined by an unprecedented interconnectedness and speed of information. We are witnessing a scramble to manipulate and manage information that demands renewed integrity, and yet the church is seen as hypocritical, judgmental, and irrelevant. If we are going to earn a voice, the future church cannot be about the components of church at all, but instead the individual souls within the church--pastors included. The better we ground ourselves in the truth of who we were created to be (IQ, EQ, and AQ), the better able we will be to love God fully and love those around us as we love ourselves. That, after all, is what Jesus commanded us to do.

The Pickoff is a baseball metaphor that exposes how the enemy of God uses a variety of tactics to impede the Christian’s progress on the bases. In an age of spiritual lethargy when too many Christians are caught napping between first and second base, it’s imperative that we “stand firm against the schemes of the devil” so that we may arrive home safely. While the pickoff move is becoming a lost art in the world of baseball, it remains a primary weapon in the enemy’s arsenal. After Christians are awarded first base, Satan will immediately look to pick them off, sending them back to the dugout in shame. If he can’t do that, he’ll settle for the stationary Christian who seems content on just standing “safely” as first base. But our Lord will have none of this. He exposes the enemy’s devices and provides the perfect coaching to help us round the bases in joy. This book will change how readers view both baseball and the Christian life. Whether a rookie believer or a seasoned veteran, readers will find fresh insights for staying spiritually alert.

Evangelicals Worship And Participation written by Alan Rathe and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-22 with Religion categories.
In discussions of worship, the term ’participation’ covers a lot of ground. It refers not only to concrete acts in gathered liturgy, but also to some of the loftiest claims of Christian theology. In this book, Alan Rathe probes the ways in which North American evangelicals have in recent years regarded the landscape of participation. Rathe presents a broad review of evangelical worship literature through a lens borrowed from medieval theology. This brings into surprising focus not only evangelical understandings but also evangelical identities and the historical traditions they reflect, and offers fresh perspectives on such current theological concerns as God’s triunity, missio Dei, and the practical theology of participation. Offering a fresh contribution to a young but important discipline, the liturgically-informed study of evangelical worship practice, this book reconnects the evangelical tradition to the ’Great Tradition’ and in the process re-appropriates classic concepts that are full of promise for contemporary ecumenical dialogue.
