Die Autor*innen nehmen unter Einbezug der historischen Entwicklung eine gesellschaftstheoretische Rahmung von Demokratie und Sozialer Arbeit im Kontext von Demokratie(-förderung) vor. Sie betrachten die Möglichkeiten professioneller Einflussnahme durch Soziale Arbeit und die kritische Reflexion ihrer Rolle darin. Dazu thematisieren sie zunächst das professionelle Selbstverständnis Sozialer Arbeit.
