Una possibile paideia per il tempo futuro non può eludere la persona come progetto a sé, i valori fondanti, i fini ineludibili e i mezzi necessari. E’ vero che la tecnologia, nel suo recente vorticoso sviluppo, ha prodotto la falsa prospettiva di potere modificare persino la vecchia natura antropica dell’uomo, reso ormai “antiquato” rispetto ai travolgenti modelli di vita in rapido susseguirsi, ma ha scontato il fallimento di un disegno teso a creare un’inedita struttura umana, legittimando, alla fine, le ragioni di una plausibile “pedagogia perennis”. Di certo, la “bildung” per le prossime generazioni non potrà rinunziare ai prodotti più sofisticati del virtuale-digitale, al fine di conseguire le proprie finalità in maniera sicura, efficace e significativa. Non si dà una nuova alba del mondo ad ogni scoperta scientifica né si dà mutazione antropologica radicale ad ogni esilarante applicazione della tecnologia. La stessa ibridazione naturale-artificiale non cancella l’immagine dell’uomo che emerge sempre più robusta dal vetusto codice occidentale. I nuovi dispositivi della tecnologia avanzata sono un valido supporto per realizzare l’agognato e mai raggiunto traguardo di elevare l’uomo dallo stato di natura a quello di cultura, ossia a fronesimon, per una vita di saggezza e di virtù. L’uso non smodato, ma compatibile, del virtuale-digitale potrà rendere condivisibile un progetto paidetico per il tempo venturo.

Il tema del management didattico nelle università trova la sua genesi in alcune riflessioni scientifiche maturate alla fine del xx secolo e nei successivi progetti Campus voluti dalla Crui. Disponendo dei risultati di un lavoro ormai decennale, possiamo oggi recuperare la iniziale indicazione, quella che allora indusse a discutere di una responsabilità ineludibile, e approfondirne i contenuti, le direzioni d’impegno, le possibili traiettorie e quindi precisare che si tratta di una responsabilità da condividere, una competenza che coinvolge tutti gli operatori presenti nel set didattico, un compito decisivo per l’efficacia del lavoro didattico. L’indagine nasce e prende le mosse da sollecitazioni raccolte all’interno di una università telematica, dove è più avvertita l’esigenza di razionalizzare l’organizzazione del lavoro didattico, e successivamente ha coinvolto studiosi ed esperti provenienti da altre esperienze universitarie. Il volume raccoglie i materiali conclusivi di un percorso di ricerca che ha inteso enucleare i compiti da affidare alla responsabilità dei singoli docenti e le responsabilità di quant’altri abbiano compiti didattici all’interno delle Università, senza ignorare le ragioni e il senso di una funzione di coordinamento, di monitoraggio e di proposta, da mantenere attiva e da potenziare, anche in termini di miglioramento continuo. In totale sono qui presenti venticinque contributi che illuminano un’area problematica che merita sicuramente ulteriori attenzioni, e non soltanto sotto il profilo scientifico, ma anche sul versante istituzionale, politico ed organizzativo.

Recently, technology and aging have been key research areas in human cognition. The Research Topic “Digital Skills and Life-long Learning: Digital Learning as a New Insight of Enhanced Learning by the Innovative Approach Joining Technology and Cognition” investigated technology's impact on cognitive and intellective processes, highlighting how intensively technology can change and/or enhance the cognitive functioning throughout one’s lifespan. The aim of this Research Topic was to provide an outlook through multidisciplinary research and development while addressing the dynamic intersection of cognition, mind, and technology. Our scope was 1) to favor the cognitive technology debate, 2) to overcome the dichotomies of technology and psychology, 3) to emphasize the advances in knowledge and well-being. This Research Topic comprises review studies and original articles, focused on digital skills that enhance human potential. Transversal approaches and cross-sectorial analysis were encouraged, leading to investigation areas related to cognitive and mental processing—in educational, rehabilitation, clinical settings—across aging. Articles of high relevance to the Research Topic were submitted on the subjects of a) research in human performance and human factors, b) new research and technologies addressing the needs of a growing populace, and c) cognitive aging and cognitive rehabilitation research.

Athenagoras (circa 133 - 190) was a Father of the Church, a Proto-orthodox Christian apologist who lived during the second half of the 2nd century of whom little is known for certain, besides that he was Athenian (though possibly not originally from Athens), a philosopher, and a convert to Christianity. In his writings he styles himself as "Athenagoras, the Athenian, Philosopher, and Christian". There is some evidence that he was a Platonist before his conversion, but this is not certain. His writings bear witness to his erudition and culture, his power as a philosopher and rhetorician, his keen appreciation of the intellectual temper of his age, and his tact and delicacy in dealing with the powerful opponents of his religion. Thus his writings are credited by some later scholars as having had a more significant impact on their intended audience than the now better-known writings of his more polemical and religiously-grounded contemporaries. The treatise on the Resurrection of the Dead, the first complete exposition of the doctrine in Christian literature, was written later than the Apology, to which it may be considered as an appendix.
