Il volume 33.2 si apre con contributo di Valeria Della Valle e Paola Moscati in ricordo di Giovanni Adamo a un anno dalla scomparsa, in cui si ripercorre l’itinerario interdisciplinare dello studioso tra terminologia, lessicologia e informatica umanistica. Seguono 16 articoli proposti alla rivista da studiosi italiani e stranieri che illustrano l’applicazione delle tecnologie informatiche alle ricerche archeologiche nelle fasi di acquisizione, elaborazione e interpretazione dei dati. Tecniche di analisi statistica (Procrustes Analysis, algoritmi di riduzione della dimensionalità, cluster analysis per il telerilevamento), GIS e analisi spaziali per lo studio del territorio e delle città antiche e per ricreare la diffusione del suono nell’antichità, tecniche di rilievo tridimensionale e ricostruzioni virtuali, sistemi multimediali, sistemi di Intelligenza Artificiale e nuove soluzioni per l’editoria archeologica digitale contribuiscono a documentare le testimonianze del passato e a diffondere i risultati della ricerca scientifica. Il numero 34.1, 2022 della rivista Archeologia e Calcolatori è caratterizzato dalla pubblicazione degli Atti di due Convegni internazionali. Il primo riguarda la sedicesima edizione del Convegno ArcheoFOSS, dal titolo “Open Software, Hardware, Processes, Data and Formats in Archaeological Research”, svoltosi a Roma il 22-23 settembre 2022 presso la sede del Digilab della Sapienza Università di Roma. Gli Atti, curati da Julian Bogdani e Stefano Costa, comprendono 21 articoli che ben testimoniano il successo e la vitalità dell’iniziativa, nata nel 2006, cui si è più volte dato spazio nelle pagine della rivista. La seconda parte del volume, che raccoglie 14 contributi, è stata curata da Carlo Citter e Agostino Sotgia ed è dedicata agli Atti della Sessione speciale “Modelling the Landscape. From Prediction to Postdiction” della settima edizione della Landscape Archaeology Conference (Iași, Romania 10-15 September 2022). Si tratta di un tema dedicato all’uso dei modelli per lo studio dei paesaggi antichi, considerato sia attraverso l’approccio predittivo “tradizionale”, perché in uso dagli anni Novanta, sia attraverso quello postdittivo, che i curatori definiscono più “sperimentale”.

Engramma 204 collects researches and findings of several Italian and European scholars who have dealt with aspects related to ancient, Medieval and Modern pilgrimage along the main three European Routes (Via Romea Francigena, Via Romea Strata, Via Romea Germanica), or along other routes to the Holy Land. The issue is divided into three sections. The first one is dedicated to the European project rurAllure by Martín López Nores, José Juan Pazos Arias, Susana Reboreda Morillo, Óscar Penín Romero, which focuses on the enhancement of minor sites along the pilgrimage routes of Europe, and it is accompanied by an overview on the development of promotional activities for some Italian cases supervised by Alessia Mariotti. The second section presents a series of studies related to some contexts that are close to mineral springs or important waterways and were frequented by pilgrims throughout the centuries: these are articles by Paola Zanovello and Andrea Meleri's on the Euganean Hills (Padua), by Maddalena Bassani's on the sanctuary of Minerva Medica in Val Trebbia (Piacenza) and that at Timavo’s Sources (Monfalcone), by Jacopo Turchetto on the centuriation between Padua and Altino. Furthermore, the articles by Silvia González Soutelo, Miguel Gómez-Heras, and Laura García Juan on the Bagno Vignoni area (Siena), and by Alessia Mariotti and Mattia Vitelli Casella on the Argenta site (Po Delta). In the third and final section one can read two important contributions, the first by Ludovico Rebaudo, devoted to the study of manuscript evidences recorded during a pilgrimage to the Holy Land about archaeological remains in Anatolia; the second by Jacopo Tabolli, who presents an exhibition on votive bronzes left by pilgrims in the sanctuary at the ‘Sorgenti di San Casciano ai Bagni’ (Siena) that recently opened at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome.

Il numero 35.1, 2024 di Archeologia e Calcolatori è un volume ricco e articolato che contiene tre sezioni speciali e un gruppo di 15 contributi dedicati all’applicazione delle più attuali tecnologie informatiche nei diversi settori della ricerca archeologica, in cui si nota una crescente attenzione verso il dato visuale e la modellazione virtuale. La prima sezione, curata da G. Gambacurta e F. Bortolami, è dedicata agli Atti del workshop (Venezia 25 settembre 2023) “Necropoli etrusco-italiche: archeologia digitale e paesaggio funerario”, che offrono un interessante focus sul tema della ricostruzione del paesaggio funerario attraverso le nuove tecnologie, presentando alcuni significativi casi di studio. La seconda sezione è curata da V. Fromageot-Laniepce e A.V. Szabados e tratta di “Images antiques et humanités numériques”, tematica particolarmente fertile negli studi della scuola francese. La sezione, in particolare, riferisce i risultati dei seminari ArcheoNum, organizzati dall’equipe CNRS-ArScAn con l’obiettivo di creare uno spazio di dialogo sulle questioni dell’archeologia e del patrimonio culturale digitali. La terza sezione, curata da A. Caravale. P. Moscati e I. Rossi, chiude il volume, pubblicando i primi risultati del lavoro di alcuni gruppi di ricerca impegnati nel Progetto PNRR H2IOSC, che mira a creare un cluster di Infrastrutture di Ricerca nei settori delle Scienze Umane, delle Tecnologie Linguistiche e dei Beni Culturali.

[Italiano]: In un momento così significativo per la storia europea e mondiale, questo volume vuole essere la raccolta di riflessioni scientifiche condotte sui rapporti tra le scelte politiche, le azioni militari e la fisionomia delle città e del paesaggio urbano, sull’evoluzione delle strutture e delle tecniche di difesa, sulla rappresentazione della guerra e dei suoi effetti sull’immagine urbana, sul recupero delle tracce della memoria cittadina. Da una parte il campo delle Digital Humanities apre nuove prospettive per studiare l'immagine della città prima, durante e dopo la guerra, dall’altro le tecnologie digitali impegnano studiosi e ricercatori di varie discipline: in particolare nell’ambito del disegno viene esplorato il ruolo della rappresentazione nella formulazione dei progetti urbani di difesa e nella documentazione degli eventi bellici e delle tracce lasciate dai conflitti, mentre nell’ambito del restauro vengono approfondite le sfide teoriche e pratiche imposte dai danni arrecati dai conflitti ai centri storici, passando in rassegna casi studio, soluzioni e dibattiti relativi alla conservazione del patrimonio urbano coinvolto in azioni di guerra, con un'attenzione particolare all'identità e alla memoria collettiva./[English]: At such a significant moment in European and world history, this volume aims to be a collection of scientific reflections about the relationships between political choices, military actions and the physiognomy of cities and the urban landscape, about the evolution of defence structures and techniques, about the representation of war and its effects on the urban image, and about the recovery of the traces of city memory. On the one hand the field of Digital Humanities opens up new perspectives to study the image of the city before, during and after the war, on the other hand digital technologies engage academics and researchers from various disciplines: In particular, in the area of drawing, the role of representation in the formulation of urban defence projects and in the documentation of wartime events and the traces left behind by conflicts is explored, while in the area of conservation, the theoretical and practical challenges imposed by the damage caused by conflicts to historic centres are explored, reviewing case studies, solutions and debates relating to the conservation of urban heritage involved in wartime actions, with a focus on identity and collective memory.
