Il volume raccoglie quattro comunicazioni e quattordici capitoli, distribuiti all’interno di quattro sezioni tematiche, (Introduzione. Sistemi produttivi; Parte prima. Organizzazione, rappresentazione e normalizzazione del progetto; Parte seconda. Materiali e lavorazioni; Parte terza. Elementi e sistemi costruttivi), che guidano ad una “rapida escursione nel territorio dei sistemi costruttivi e delle novità introdotte dall’approccio esigenziale-prestazionale [...] per tracciare un filo logico che evidenzi le relazioni essenziali tra le diverse nozioni ed i diversi processi in atto e consenta di ipotizzarne alcune tendenze di sviluppo, al fine di orientare studi, ricerche ed approfondimenti da parte dello studente”. Appendice e Apparati raccolgono, infine: elaborati grafici, a cura del prof. arch. Spartaco Paris, che aggiornano le tavole grafiche del capitolo 13. Sistemi di chiusura verticale, in considerazione delle ricadute tecnologiche e progettuali intervenute nella nuova normativa sul risparmio energetico dell’involucro; le più significative innovazioni normative italiane, che integrano alcuni riferimenti citati; una Bibliografia ragionata, che raccoglie testi significativamente aggiornati e una ricostruzione ampiamente esaustiva dei contributi su libro e su rivista e citazioni dell’Autore; Elenco delle Illustrazioni e Indice degli argomenti, dei nomi e dei luoghi; Testimonianze di amici, colleghi e docenti appartenenti ai SSD della Tecnologia dell’Architettura e del Design a cura di Rossella Martino. Roberto Perris (1937-2010), architetto e professore universitario, ha vissuto e operato tra Roma, Latina e Bari. Dopo aver compiuto gli studi scientifici, si iscrisse alla Facoltà di Giurisprudenza e, in seguito all’incontro con Ugo Luccichenti, alla Facoltà di Architettura di Roma, ove si laureò con lode con Ludovico Quaroni. Da studente fece parte di studi di architettura condividendo esperienze concorsuali con Francesco Cellini, Franco Cervellini, Claudio D’Amato, Franco Purini, Mario Seccia, Andrea Silipo, Duccio Staderini, Laura Thermes, Paola Trucco; frequentò il GRAU e il Gruppo 63. Partecipò attivamente al movimento degli studenti del 1968 insieme a Paolo Flores D’Arcais, Massimiliano Fuksas, Renato Nicolini, Sergio Petruccioli e Franco Russo. Dal 1972, svolse attività didattica nei corsi di Progettazione architettonica a fianco di Ludovico Quaroni e di Salvatore Dierna. Dal 1994, insegnò Tecnologia dell’Architettura prima a Roma, poi dal 1998 al Politecnico di Bari dove dal settembre 2002 al marzo 2010 fu presidente del corso di laurea in Disegno Industriale.
