The Asia-Pacific region, home to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies, faces a range of complex challenges, including environmental degradation, the increasing frequency of natural hazards, and rapid urbanization. Addressing these issues, which many countries across the globe are facing, requires innovative, interdisciplinary approaches to promote sustainable development and enhance resilience. Geographic information systems (GIS), when combined with multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), offer powerful tools to tackle these multifaceted problems. AIGIS integrates AI with GIS to derive insights from geospatial data. The fusion of AI techniques with GIS enhances data analysis, visualization, and decision-making. Artificial Intelligence, Geographic Information Systems, and Multi-Criteria Decision-Making for Improving Sustainable Development explore how these integrated tools can support decision-making processes aimed at advancing sustainable development. Drawing on research and insights from diverse disciplines, the book looks at how GIS, MCDM, and AI can provide solutions for disaster risk reduction, environmental monitoring, urban planning, and natural resource management. Through diverse case studies and theoretical explorations, this book highlights the value of integrated geospatial tools in facilitating informed decision-making and fostering resilient societies in the face of evolving challenges. It covers a wide range of topics, including the following: Site-soil-geology assessments in Fiji Flood risk analysis in Hong Kong Air quality management in Delhi during the COVID-19 pandemic Vegetation health monitoring in Thailand Bringing together the work of academicians, practitioners, and decision-makers, the book reflects the growing recognition towards effective and sustainable solutions to complex problems, which require a multidimensional approach, integrating scientific, economic, and social considerations. By providing the latest research and practical applications of MCDM, AI, and GIS, it contributes to ongoing efforts to build a more sustainable and resilient future for the Asia-Pacific region, as well as for the world.

Knowledge Management For Regional Policymaking written by Robert Laurini and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-01 with Science categories.
The present publication focusses the attention on new avenues in regional information and knowledge management, while we will zoom in particularly on the potential promises and hurdles of digital technology. This digital challenge has already generated a wealth of implications in the area of smart or intelligent cities, but as yet far less has been achieved in the field of regional planning and regional science. There is clearly a need for a more systematic and wide-ranging assessment and presentation of emerging approaches and concepts in this field, for instance, in regard to principles (e.g. geographic rule modeling), methodologies (e.g. blockchain systems), data analytics (e.g. machine learning) and data governance (e.g. data sovereignty) of regional information and knowledge. Especially in our ‘big data’ era, a systematic, comprehensible and reliable acquisition, storage, sharing and handling of data (e.g. on the basis of systematic decomposition and filtering principles) is more needed than ever before. The present study seeks to present a selection of state-of-the-art contributions on advanced – often digitally-oriented – regional information and knowledge management foundations, principles and practices written by several experts in the field of spatial informatics. These contributions were collected with a view to the design of a comprehensive knowledge and research agenda, which was discussed during a brainstorm workshop in Lyon, France (October 2021). This book covers various fields of interest, such as GeoAI, knowledge modelling, IoT and scalability, space syntax, rule extraction, data governance and data self-sovereignty. It is concluded with a knowledge and research agenda outlining future endeavors in the field of the spatial information sciences (or spatial informatics).

This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Multicriteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), offering a detailed exploration of the concepts, methodologies, and applications of this integrated approach. GIS is a powerful tool for capturing, storing, analyzing, and displaying geographic data. It allows users to visualize and explore spatial data, and to perform various types of spatial analysis. MCDA is a set of techniques that help decision-makers evaluate and compare different alternatives based on multiple criteria. By combining the capabilities of GIS and MCDA, decision-makers can leverage spatial data and analytical tools to make informed decisions about complex problems. The integration of GIS and MCDA offers several advantages. First, it allows decision-makers to visualize and explore spatial data in a user-friendly and interactive manner. Second, it enables the integration of multiple criteria into the decision-making process, allowing decision-makers to consider a wide range of factors when evaluating alternatives. Third, it provides a structured framework for evaluating and comparing alternatives, ensuring a transparent and objective decision-making process. This book is structured into ten chapters, each covering a different aspect of the integration of GIS and MCDA. The first chapter provides an overview of GIS and MCDA, and introduces the basic concepts and methodologies of these two fields. The subsequent chapters delve into specific applications of GIS and MCDA in various domains, including land use planning, transportation planning, environmental management, emergency management, and healthcare planning. The final chapter explores future directions and emerging trends in the integration of GIS and MCDA. It discusses the potential of big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, and the Internet of Things to further enhance the capabilities of GIS and MCDA. This chapter also highlights the importance of GIS and MCDA in addressing sustainable development challenges. This book is intended for a wide audience, including students, researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers who are interested in using GIS and MCDA to solve complex problems. It provides a comprehensive overview of the field, and offers practical guidance on how to integrate GIS and MCDA into decision-making processes. If you like this book, write a review!
