The papers in this volume comprise the refereed proceedings of the conference 'Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice' (IFIP AI 2006), which formed part of the 19th World Computer Congress of IFIP, the International Federation for Information Processing (WCC- 2006), in Santiago, Chile in August 2006. The conference is organised by the IFIP Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence (Technical Committee 12) and its Working Group 12.5 (Artificial Intelligence Applications). All papers were reviewed by at least two members of our Programme Committee. The best papers were selected for the conference and are included in this volume. The international nature of IFIP is amply reflected in the large number of countries represented here. The conference featured invited talks by Rose Dieng, John Atkinson, John Debenham and myself. IFIP AI 2006 also included the Second IFIP Symposium on Professional Practice in Artificial Intelligence, organised by Professor John Debenham, which ran alongside the refereed papers. I should like to thank the conference chair. Professor Debenham for all his efforts in organising the Symposium and the members of our programme committee for reviewing an unexpectedly large number of papers to a very tight deadline. This is the latest in a series of conferences organised by IFIP Technical Committee 12 dedicated to the techniques of Artificial Intelligence and their real-world applications. The wide range and importance of these applications is clearly indicated by the papers in this volume. Further information about TCI 2 can be found on our website http://www.ifiptcl2.org.

Open Access in Theory and Practice investigates the theory-practice relationship in the domain of open access publication and dissemination of research outputs. Drawing on detailed analysis of the literature and current practice in OA, as well as data collected in detailed interviews with practitioners, policymakers, and researchers, the book discusses what constitutes ‘theory’, and how the role of theory is perceived by both theorists and practitioners. Exploring the ways theory and practice have interacted in the development of OA, the authors discuss what this reveals about the nature of the OA phenomenon itself and the theory-practice relationship. Open Access in Theory and Practice contributes to a better understanding of OA and, as such, should be of great interest to academics, researchers, and students working in the fields of information science, publishing studies, science communication, higher education policy, business, and economics. The book also makes an important contribution to the debate of the relationship between theory and practice in information science, and more widely across different fields of the social sciences and humanities

This is an open access book. Big data is a large-scale and complex data set based on modern information technology. It has the characteristics of scale and diversity, and its information processing and storage capabilities have been significantly improved. The application of big data technology is to fully mine and analyze data, build cooperation and interaction between teachers and students, encourage students to communicate and interact with teachers, and give full play to the education and teaching effect of big data. In order to improve teaching quality and efficiency as much as possible, all kinds of teaching in the new era must have strong flexibility and foresight, so as to adapt to the development of modern society. So big data will give greater flexibility to educational activities. Therefore, big data will give greater flexibility to educational activities, and more and more scholars provide new ideas for the above research directions. To sum up, we will hold an international academic conference on big data and information education. The 2024 5th International Conference on Big Data and Informatization Education (ICBDIE2024) will be held on January 19–21, 2024 in Sanya, China. ICBDIE 2024 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of Big Data and Informatization Education to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in Big Data and Informatization Education and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. Artificial Intelligence Principles And Practice written by George F. Luger and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-12-02 with Computers categories.
This book provides a complete introduction to Artificial Intelligence, covering foundational computational technologies, mathematical principles, philosophical considerations, and engineering disciplines essential for understanding AI. Artificial Intelligence: Principles and Practice emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of AI, integrating insights from psychology, mathematics, neuroscience, and more. The book addresses limitations, ethical issues, and the future promise of AI, emphasizing the importance of ethical considerations in integrating AI into modern society. With a modular design, it offers flexibility for instructors and students to focus on specific components of AI, while also providing a holistic view of the field. Taking a comprehensive but concise perspective on the major elements of the field; from historical background to design practices, ethical issues and more, Artificial Intelligence: Principles and Practice provides the foundations needed for undergraduate or graduate-level courses. The important design paradigms and approaches to AI are explained in a clear, easy-to-understand manner so that readers will be able to master the algorithms, processes, and methods described. The principal intellectual and ethical foundations for creating artificially intelligent artifacts are presented in Parts I and VIII. Part I offers the philosophical, mathematical, and engineering basis for our current AI practice. Part VIII presents ethical concerns for the development and use of AI. Part VIII also discusses fundamental limiting factors in the development of AI technology as well as hints at AI's promising future. We recommended that PART I be used to introduce the AI discipline and that Part VIII be discussed after the AI practice materials. Parts II through VII present the three main paradigms of current AI practice: the symbol-based, the neural network or connectionist, and the probabilistic. Generous use of examples throughout helps illustrate the concepts, and separate end-of-chapter exercises are included. Teaching resources include a solutions manual for the exercises, PowerPoint presentation, and implementations for the algorithms in the book.
