Artificial Knowing challenges the masculine slant in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) view of the world. Alison Adam admirably fills the large gap in science and technology studies by showing us that gender bias is inscribed in AI-based computer systems. Her treatment of feminist epistemology, focusing on the ideas of the knowing subject, the nature of knowledge, rationality and language, are bound to make a significant and powerful contribution to AI studies. Drawing from theories by Donna Haraway and Sherry Turkle, and using tools of feminist epistemology, Adam provides a sustained critique of AI which interestingly re-enforces many of the traditional criticisms of the AI project. Artificial Knowing is an esential read for those interested in gender studies, science and technology studies, and philosophical debates in AI.

Knowing our World: An Artificial Intelligence Perspective considers the methodologies of science, computation, and artificial intelligence to explore how we humans come to understand and operate in our world. While humankind's history of articulating ideas and building machines that can replicate the activity of the human brain is impressive, Professor Luger focuses on understanding the skills that enable these goals. Based on insights afforded by the challenges of AI design and program building, Knowing our World proposes a foundation for the science of epistemology. Taking an interdisciplinary perspective, the book demonstrates that AI technology offers many representational structures and reasoning strategies that support clarification of these epistemic foundations. .

Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a hot topic these days, as more products that leverage the power of artificial intelligence (AI) keep on being innovated. Think about modern day applications of AI like in self-driving cars, software-based robotics that take on repetitive work that we carry out on computers, algorithms that help personalize user experience on websites in real time, the use of big data in making business decisions, home automation devices and related systems. And it is not stopping....AI will increasingly take root in all these and more. While knowing these advanced systems leverage the power of artificial intelligence to operate is a good thing, not knowing the intricacies of artificial intelligence puts you in the category of 'quacks' as far as the topic of artificial intelligence is concerned. By virtue that you are reading this, it is clear that you want to move from having a general idea about artificial intelligence to having more than average level knowledge on the inner workings of artificial intelligence. I know you are looking for answers to all manner of questions.... What makes artificial intelligence a life changing innovation? What exactly does artificial intelligence entail? Artificial Culture is an examination of the articulation, construction, and representation of "the artificial" in contemporary popular cultural texts, especially science fiction films and novels. The book argues that today we live in an artificial culture due to the deep and inextricable relationship between people, our bodies, and technology at large. While the artificial is often imagined as outside of the natural order and thus also beyond the realm of humanity, paradoxically, artificial concepts are simultaneously produced and constructed by human ideas and labor. The artificial can thus act as a boundary point against which we as a culture can measure what it means to be human. Science fiction feature films and novels, and other related media, frequently and provocatively deploy ideas of the artificial in ways which the lines between people, our bodies, spaces and culture more broadly blur and, at times, dissolve. Building on the rich foundational work on the figures of the cyborg and posthuman, this book situates the artificial in similar terms, but from a nevertheless distinctly different viewpoint. After examining ideas of the artificial as deployed in film, novels and other digital contexts, this study concludes that we are now part of an artificial culture entailing a matrix which, rather than separating minds and bodies, or humanity and the digital, reinforces the symbiotic connection between identities, bodies, and technologies.

To understand ourselves, and our place in the universe . . . is this not our greatest quest? Today, we are closer than ever before to gaining this knowledge. Neuroscience is uncovering the complexities of the brain, the organ which ultimately defines us. Artificial Intelligence is producing machines with human-like abilities: recognising faces, driving cars, beating us at games we invented. The relationship between these two disciplines, each learning from the other, improves our understanding of human intelligence.Drawing upon progress made in neuroscience and artificial intelligence, this book answers major questions about the human mind and where it is taking us, addressing topics as diverse as consciousness, free will, and the search for meaning in the universe. Anybody with an interest in the human condition will find this book thought-provoking.To judge whether you might enjoy Knowing Your Mind, you need only look at the table of contents:Part I: Being human What is a mind? Do we have free will? What makes us happy? What makes us conscious?Part II: Artificial intelligence Is a computer like a brain? Could a computer convince us it is human? Could a computer understand our world? Could we live on, inside a computer?Part III: Our place in the universe Is there a creator? Is the universe without meaning? What is our destiny? Are you interested in the answers to these questions? If yes, then read on . . .

Virtual Weaponry written by Aaron Tucker and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-26 with Performing Arts categories.

This book examines the convergent paths of the Internet and the American military, interweaving a history of the militarized Internet with analysis of a number of popular Hollywood movies in order to track how the introduction of the Internet into the war film has changed the genre, and how the movies often function as one part of the larger Military-Industrial- Media-Entertainment Network and the Total War Machine. The book catalogues and analyzes representations of a militarized Internet in popular Hollywood cinema, arguing that such illustrations of digitally networked technologies promotes an unhealthy transhumanism that weaponizes the relationships between the biological and technological aspects of that audience, while also hierarchically placing the “human” components at the top. Such filmmaking and movie-watching should be replaced with a critical posthumanism that challenges the relationships between the audience and their technologies, in addition to providing critical tools that can be applied to understanding and potentially resist modern warfare.

Talking To Strangers written by Todd Klean and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-03-18 with categories.

In this guide you will find two of the most important themes of the modern era. Learn to talk to foreigners and the world in its various facets and the knowledge of artificial intelligence in today's world. Talking and understanding to strangers "Don't talk to strangers" is a universal piece of advice that we all remember or receive at an early age without actually receiving many explanations from our parents or guardians. It is not bad advice for a child who cannot distinguish between someone who is genuine and someone who will harm him. There is a problem with this advice though; nobody talks about its expiration date! As you well know, when we grow up, we will all get to the point where talking to strangers must be part of our daily lives if we want to move forward in our personal and professional relationships. How do you go from believing that you shouldn't talk to strangers to believing that you should talk to strangers? How to overcome the inhibitions that have developed in you over the years regarding interaction with strangers? What are you talking about even in your first conversations? How do you get through the embarrassment that is often common when you try something you're not used to? Is there a right and wrong way to talk to strangers? Being able to trust and talk to someone you have just met and you know nothing about could be very difficult, but with this book, you will be able to make the right judgment about strangers and even be able to establish good relationships with them . Artificial Intelligence in our life Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a hot topic these days, as more and more products that harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) continue to be innovated. Think about modern artificial intelligence applications such as self-driving cars, software-based robotics that perform repetitive work on computers, algorithms that help customize the user experience on websites in real time, use big data to make business decisions, devices home automation and related systems. What makes artificial intelligence a life-changing innovation? What exactly does artificial intelligence entail? How is artificial intelligence used in different areas where it is applied? What do you have to learn to create artificial intelligence systems?
