The book is divided into four main sections: The first concerns theory. The second section concerns non-state threats and case studies, providing an overview of non-state threats ranging from organized crime networks to cartels, gangs and warlords. The third section is based on counter-OPFOR (opposing force) strategies which detail advanced concepts, urban battlespace environmental perceptions, weaponry, intelligence preparation, networked force structure and C41. The fourth and final section contains an archival document from the late 1987 period concerning early Fourth Epoch War theory, and never before published interviews with Chechen commanders and officers who participated in combat operations against Russian forces in the 1994-96 war.

This book presents a number of selected papers given at the LB9 conference, held in Potsdam, Germany, in August 2000. It is dedicated to new techniques and methodologies for studying interfacial layers. One group of manuscripts deals with the application of surface plasmons at solid interfaces, used for example in resonance spectroscopy and light scattering. New applications of various types of Atomic Force Microscopy are reported making use of various modifications of tips. A number of chapters are dedicated to light emitting diodes built with the help of LB layers. The aim of these studies is the improvement of efficiency. Electrochemical methods were described as tools for developing sensors, in particular miniaturised pH or gas sensors. The application of synchrotron X-ray and NMR techniques have been described in detail in two extended chapters. It is demonstrated how molecular information can be detected by these methods for various types of interfacial layers. This monograph, along with 130 papers that have been submitted for publication in the special issues of relevant journals, represent the proceedings of the LBP conference.

Cultural Histories of Law, Media and Emotion: Public Justice explores how the legal history of long-eighteenth-century Britain has been transformed by the cultural turn, and especially the associated history of emotion. Seeking to reflect on the state of the field, 13 essays by leading and emerging scholars bring cutting-edge research to bear on the intersections between law, print culture and emotion in Britain across the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Divided into three sections, this collection explores the ‘public’ as a site of legal sensibility; it demonstrates how the rhetoric of emotion constructed the law in legal practice and in society and culture; and it highlights how approaches from cultural and emotions history have recentred the individual, the biography and the group to explain long-running legal-historical problems. Across this volume, authors evidence how engagements between cultural and legal history have revitalised our understanding of law’s role in eighteenth-century culture and society, not least deepening our understanding of justice as produced with and through the public. This volume is the ideal resource for upper-level undergraduates, postgraduates and scholars interested in the history of emotions as well as the legal history of Britain from the late seventeenth to the nineteenth century.

Deer Stand Revelations is a collection of revelations that God has given me through life events, outdoor excursions and hunting and fishing adventures. Having always had a love for the outdoors, I have spent most of my life working, playing, hunting, fishing, hiking and just spending time outside. That love turned into a passion for God's creation at the moment of my salvation. God began to speak to me when I was in a deer stand or when I was standing beside a body of water with a fishing pole in my hand. God showed me purpose in His creation and taught me lessons through successes and failures afield. Through a gentle whisper in the wind or a beautiful note from a songbird, He gave me hope. In an errant shot or misplaced arrow, He taught me humility. In an amazing sunrise, He sent me back to my childhood and gave meaning to the good and bad things that I have lived and seen. God didn't give me all of this revelation to keep to myself. He called me to share it with the world. Deer Stand Revelations is my answer to that call. My name is Marty Ray Perkins. I was born on July 21, 1961 in Roxboro N.C. I grew up on a small, family owned, tobacco farm. I have always enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor adventures. I love to look for Native American artifacts. I am a songwriter and enjoy singing and playing the guitar. Spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren, in the outdoors is my favorite pastime. I teach Sunday School and I am an ordained deacon at my church. Writing Deer Stand Revelations is an answer to God's calling.

A new assessment of Jan Smuts’s military leadership through examination of his World War I campaigning, demonstrating that he was a gifted general, conversant with the craft of maneuver warfare, and a command style steeped in the experiences of his time as a Boer general. World War I ushered in a renewed scramble for Africa. At its helm, Jan Smuts grabbed the opportunity to realize his ambition of a Greater South Africa. He set his sights upon the vast German colonies of South-West Africa and East Africa – the demise of which would end the Kaiser’s grandiose schemes for Mittelafrika. As part of his strategy to shift South Africa’s borders inexorably northward, Smuts even cast an eye toward Portuguese and Belgian African possessions. Smuts, his abilities as a general much denigrated by both his contemporary and then later modern historians, was no armchair soldier. This cabinet minister and statesman donned a uniform and led his men into battle. He learned his soldiery craft under General Koos De la Rey's tutelage, and another soldier-statesman, General Louis Botha during the South African War 1899–1902. He emerged from that war, immersed in the Boer maneuver doctrine he devastatingly waged in the guerrilla phase of that conflict. His daring and epic invasion of the Cape at the head of his commando remains legendary. The first phase of the German South West African campaign and the Afrikaner Rebellion in 1914 placed his abilities as a sound strategic thinker and a bold operational planner on display. Champing at the bit, he finally had the opportunity to command the Southern Forces in the second phase of the German South West African campaign. Placed in command of the Allied forces in East Africa in 1916, he led a mixed bag of South Africans and Imperial troops against the legendary Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck and his Shutztruppe. Using his penchant for Boer maneuver warfare together with mounted infantry led and manned by Boer Republican veterans, he proceeded to free the vast German territory from Lettow-Vorbeck’s grip. Often leading from the front, his operational concepts were an enigma to the British under his command, remaining so to modern-day historians. Although unable to bring the elusive and wily Lettow-Vorbeck to a final decisive battle, Smuts conquered most of the territory by the end of his tenure in February 1917. General Jan Smuts and His First World War in Africa makes use of multiple archival sources and the official accounts of all the participants to provide a long-overdue reassessment of Smuts’s generalship and his role in furthering the strategic aims of South Africa and the British Empire in Africa during World War I.

Are You A Chosen Vessel written by Nancy F. Lowery and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-23 with categories.

Before the foundation of the world, the God of all creation created YOU. While you were yet in your mother's womb, He had a divine purpose and a strategic plan for your life. You are not here by accident or coincidence; you are here by God's amazing grace. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "'For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, ' says the Lord, 'thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." "You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you." (John 15:16) In other words, I (the Lord) hand-picked, carefully selected, and intentionally singled you out in spite of your imperfections, faults, dysfunctions or your past. You need to know that your history does not determine your destiny. God can raise up a drug dealer, a substance abuser, a prostitute, an unbeliever, or even a career criminal. He can place His anointing upon their lives and empower them to do what He has already predestined. When God gets ready to use or bless you, He doesn't need the approval of others. He just does it because He can. The Lord takes pride in choosing and using the most unlikely people (including those who have been rejected, mistreated, misunderstood, looked-over, picked-over, stepped-over, kicked-to-the-curb, or thrown-under-the-bus, and considered by others to be of little value) to prove that God, and God alone, has the power to change a life and let the world know that He considers YOU His Chosen Vessel! Matthew 20:16 says, "So the last shall be first, and the first last: For MANY are called, but few are CHOSEN.
