Seismic Architecture written by Mentor Llunji and has been published by MSPROJECT this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-01-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This is arguably the most comprehensive book on the subject of architectural-structural design decisions that influence the seismic performance of buildings. It explores the intersection between the architecture and the structural design through the lens of earthquake engineering. The main aim of this unique book, written by renowned engineer M.Llunji, is to explain in the simplest terms, the architecture and structure of earthquake-resistant buildings, using many practical examples and case studies to demonstrate the fact that structures and buildings react to earthquake forces mainly according to their form, configuration and material. The purpose of this book is to introduce a new perspective on seismic design,a more visual, conceptual and architectural one, to both architects and engineers. In a word, it is to introduce architectural opportunities for earthquake resistant- buildings, treating seismic design as a central architectural issue. A non-mathematical and practical approach emphasizing graphical presentation of problems and solutions makes it equally accessible to architectural and engineering professionals. The book will be invaluable for practicing engineers, architects, students and researches. .More than 500 illustrations/photographs and numerous case studies. Seismic Architecture covers: • Earthquake effects on structures • Seismic force resisting systems • Advanced systems for seismic protection • Architectural/structural configuration and its influence on seismic response • Contemporary architecture in seismic regions • Seismic response of nonstructural elements • Seismic retrofit and rehabilitation of existing buildings • Seismic architecture.

Introduction To Dynamics Of Structures And Earthquake Engineering written by Gian Paolo Cimellaro and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-26 with Science categories.

This work is an elementary but comprehensive textbook which provides the latest updates in the fields of Earthquake Engineering, Dynamics of Structures, Seismology and Seismic Design, introducing relevant new topics to the fields such as the Neodeterministic method. Its main purpose is to illustrate the application of energy methods and the analysis in the frequency domain with the corresponding visualization in the Gauss-Argant plan. However, emphasis is also given to the applications of numerical methods for the solution of the equation of motion and to the ground motion selection to be used in time history analysis of structures. As supplementary materials, this book provides “OPENSIGNAL", a rare and unique software for ground motion selection and processing that can be used by professionals to select the correct earthquake records that would run in the nonlinear analysis. The book contains clear illustrations and figures to describe the subject in an intuitive way. It uses simple language and terminology and the math is limited only to cases where it is essential to understand the physical meaning of the system. Therefore, it is suitable also for those readers who approach these subjects for the first time and who only have a basic understanding of mathematics (linear algebra) and static analysis of structures.

Paper Chemistry written by J.C. Roberts and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-12-31 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Although the title of this book is Paper Chemistry, it should be considered as a text about the chemistry of the formation of paper from aqueous suspensions of fibre and other additives, rather than as a book about the chemistry of the raw material itself. It is the subject of what papermakers call wet-end chemistry. There are many other excellent texts on the chemistry of cellulose and apart from one chapter on the accessibility of cellulose, the subject is not addressed here. Neither does the book deal with the chemistry of pulp preparation (from wood, from other plant sources or from recycled fibres), for there are also many excellent texts on this subject. The first edition of this book was a great success and soon became established as one of the Bibles of the industry. Its achievement then was to collect the considerable advances in understanding which had been made in the chemistry of papermaking in previous years, and provide, for the first time, a sound physico chemical basis of the subject. This new edition has been thoroughly updated with much new material added. The formation of paper is a continuous filtration process in which cellulosic fibres are formed into a network which is then pressed and dried. The important chemistry involved in this process is firstly the retention of col loidal material during filtration and secondly the modification of fibre and sheet properties so as to widen the scope for the use of paper and board products.

Assessing Building Performance written by Wolfgang Preiser and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-08-11 with Architecture categories.

The building performance evaluation (BPE) framework emphasizes an evaluative stance throughout the six phases of the building delivery and life cycle: (1) strategic planning/needs analysis; (2) program review; (3) design review; (4) post-construction evaluation/review; (5) post-occupancy evaluation; and, (6) facilities management review/adaptive reuse. The lessons learned from positive and negative building performance are fed into future building delivery cycles. The case studies illustrate how this basic methodology has been adapted to a range of cultural contexts, and indicates the positive results of building performance assessment in a wide range of situations.

As we attempt to solve engineering problems of ever increasing complexity, so must we develop and learn new methods for doing so. The Finite Difference Method used for centuries eventually gave way to Finite Element Methods (FEM), which better met the demands for flexibility, effectiveness, and accuracy in problems involving complex geometry. Now,

This book summarizes the research being pursued as part of the Erasmus+ CBHE KA2 project entitled "Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries” (NatRisk), which aims to educate experts on the prevention and management of natural disasters in the Western Balkan region in line with national and EU policies. The project has successfully developed and implemented master curricula and educational training in the field of natural disasters risk management, and a methodology for the identification and prevention of natural disasters. Consisting of 11 chapters, the book analyzes and discusses topics such as risk assessment tools and quality methods, the different approaches for civil-military collaboration, natural disasters risk management in Bosnia and Herzegovina, leadership models for managing crises resulting from natural disasters, natural disasters in industrial areas, natural risk management in geotechnics, flood risk modeling, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference models for flood prediction, collapse prediction of masonry arches, an algorithm for fire truck dispatch in emergency situations, and processing drought data in a GIS environment.
