"Quelle est l'influence des médias comme source de vitalité sur le développement psycholangagier et les comportements des élèves inscrits dans une école secondaire francophone? Dans quelle mesure l'utilisation des médias dans la langue de la minorité relève-t-elle du déterminisme social qui s'impose sur les élèves des écoles secondaires francophones au Nouveau-Brunswick, seule province officiellement bilingue au Canada. Le déterminisme social, force associée aux ressources démographiques, institutionnelles et statuaires définissant la vitalité d'une minorité linguistique (Giles, Bourhis et Taylor, 1977), peut-il être contré par l'autodétermination exercée par les individus, cette force dont les assises reposent sur l'autonomie de la personne et sa conscientisation à la minorisation de son groupe. S'appuyant sur le modèle du comportement langagier autodéterminé et conscientisé (CLAC) révisé de Landry, Allard, Deveau et St-Onge (2020), nous explorons en profondeur l'exposition des élèves aux médias de langue française et de langue anglaise pendant leur enfance et l'usage qu'ils font actuellement. Nous analysons comment cette consommation des médias est influencée par trois catégories de vécus sociolangagiers (enculturants, autonomisants et conscientisants) et via cinq composantes du développement psycholangagier qui en découlent : la vitalité linguistique subjective, l'identité linguistique engagée et intégrée, l'engagement communautaire, les compétences langagières et le reflet identitaire, nouveau construit que nous ajoutons au modèle théorique. Nous avons utilisé la modélisation par équations structurelles afin de vérifier l'ensemble des hypothèses du modèle. Un sondage fut administré à 751 élèves inscrits dans les écoles secondaires francophones au Nouveau-Brunswick. Les résultats montrent que l'usage des médias en français diminue au fur et à mesure que les élèves avancent en âge et que cet usage se fait timide peu importe la concentration des francophones dans la région habitée. Nous montrons que le reflet identitaire, voir son identité reflétée par les médias consommés, joue un rôle important dans l'usage actuel des médias de langue française relativement à ceux dans la langue dominante et contribue avec d'autres variables à accroître l'effet global de l'autodétermination qui cherche à contrer un déterminisme socialtoujours fort et présent."--Sommaire.

How has political revolution figured into the development of avant-garde cultural production? Is the vanguard an antiquated concept or does its influence still resonate in the 21st century? Focusing closely on the convergence of aesthetics and politics that materialized in the early part of the twentieth century, this study offers a re-interpretation of the historical avant-garde from 1917 to 1962, a turbulent period in intellectual history which marked the apex, crisis, and decline of vanguardist authority.
