Sociopolitics written by Paris Arnopoulos and has been published by Guernica Editions this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Political Science categories.

This collection of six essays explores Sociopolitics as the process of political development in postmodern societies in their three aspects: informatic, ecologic and technologic. Within this conceptual framework, the essays examine the politics of telecommunication as well as environmentalism and developmentalism in an era of transition from consumer to coserver societies. The main thesis of this book is that the emerging postindustrial era in the turn of the millennium is characterised by a convergence of politics, technics and physics. As the public affairs of social responsibility, technical sophistication and environmental concern, this book is based on a novel theory of Sociophysics, emphasising the metaphors between natural and cultural systems. From the global perspective, this study joins the perennial debate on the human condition and the new dilemmas facing us presently.

Social Science As Imperialism written by Claude Ake and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1982 with History categories.

Claude Ake's study is primarily concerned with what he terms 'the most perinicious form of imperialism' namely scientific knowledge. Ake analyses how Western social sciences, whether consciously or inadvertently, foist capitalist values and capitalist development on the Third World, and serve imperialist ends. He unravels the theory of political development/'westernisation', exposing its ideological character and condemning 'Western development studies as worse than useless'. He then develops his analysis of the imperialist and ideological characteristics of Western social sciences to posit alternatives which may more successfully overcome permanent underdevelopment; and advocates a struggle for a new model of social sciences which is socialist-orientated, and that developing countries reject Western models. The study was first published in 1979, revised in 1982, is newly reissued, and for the first time, widely available outside Africa. Claude Ake (1939-1996) was one of Africa's most distinguished political and social scientists and democrats of the twentieth century, writing widely and polemically on what were his life-long concerns of democracy and the future of the African continent.

Social Relations And Political Development In China written by Zhengxu Wang and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-29 with Political Science categories.

As China enters its proclaimed ‘New Era’ under President Xi Jinping, this book examines changes and continuity in social relations and political development, investigating new developments against the backdrop of continuations of long-term trends and previous policies. What has remained outside many scholarly discussions is a larger backdrop of continuity, into which the policies of Xi Jinping’s administration are inserted to further shape social, economic and political trajectories in contemporary China. Presented as a volume of methodologically diverse studies exploring some of the key aspects of social and political development in contemporary China, its authors examine the structural factors that continue to exert influence on China’s trajectory – in the ‘New Era’, as before – at the deeper and subtler levels. This is the first publication of its kind to focus on how continuity and change interplay under Xi; it enables readers to appreciate both genuine novelties and the enduring, long-term trends, as well as to estimate future trends in the proclaimed ‘New Era’ and beyond. Social Relations and Political Development in China will be of significant interest to students and scholars of Chinese studies, political science and sociology.
