Many of problems of the natural sciences lead to nonlinear partial differential equations. However, only a few of them have succeeded in being solved explicitly. Therefore different methods of qualitative analysis such as the asymptotic methods play a very important role. This is the first book in the world literature giving a systematic development of a general asymptotic theory for nonlinear partial differential equations with dissipation. Many typical well-known equations are considered as examples, such as: nonlinear heat equation, KdVB equation, nonlinear damped wave equation, Landau-Ginzburg equation, Sobolev type equations, systems of equations of Boussinesq, Navier-Stokes and others.

This monograph reports the advances that have been made in the area by the author and many other mathematicians; it is an important source of ideas for the researchers interested in the subject. --Zentralblatt MATH Although advanced, this book is a very good introduction to the subject, and the reading of the abstract part, which is elegant, is pleasant. ... this monograph will be of valuable interest for those who aim to learn in the very rapidly growing subject of infinite-dimensional dissipative dynamical systems. --Mathematical Reviews This book is directed at researchers in nonlinear ordinary and partial differential equations and at those who apply these topics to other fields of science. About one third of the book focuses on the existence and properties of the flow on the global attractor for a discrete or continuous dynamical system. The author presents a detailed discussion of abstract properties and examples of asymptotically smooth maps and semigroups. He also covers some of the continuity properties of the global attractor under perturbation, its capacity and Hausdorff dimension, and the stability of the flow on the global attractor under perturbation. The remainder of the book deals with particular equations occurring in applications and especially emphasizes delay equations, reaction-diffusion equations, and the damped wave equations. In each of the examples presented, the author shows how to verify the existence of a global attractor, and, for several examples, he discusses some properties of the flow on the global attractor.

Mathematical Physics And Its Interactions written by Shuji Machihara and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-03 with Mathematics categories.

This publication comprises research papers contributed by the speakers, primarily based on their planned talks at the meeting titled 'Mathematical Physics and Its Interactions,' initially scheduled for the summer of 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. It celebrates Tohru Ozawa's 60th birthday and his extensive contributions in many fields. The works gathered in this volume explore interactions between mathematical physics, various types of partial differential equations (PDEs), harmonic analysis, and applied mathematics. They are authored by research leaders in these fields, and this selection honors the spirit of the workshop by showcasing cutting-edge results and providing a forward-looking perspective through discussions of problems, with the goal of shaping future research directions. Originally planned as an in-person gathering, this conference had to change its format due to limitations imposed by COVID, more precisely to avoid inducing people into unnecessary vaccinations.

This work contains contributions presented at the conference, QMath-8: Mathematical Results in Quantum Mechanics'', held at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in December 2001. The articles cover a wide range of mathematical problems and focus on various aspects of quantum mechanics, quantum field theory and nuclear physics. Topics vary from spectral properties of the Schrodinger equation of various quantum systems to the analysis of quantum computation algorithms. The book should be suitable for graduate students and research mathematicians interested in the mathematical aspects of quantum mechanics.

This book is the first to concentrate on the theory of nonlinear nonlocal equations. The authors solve a number of problems concerning the asymptotic behavior of solutions of nonlinear evolution equations, the blow-up of solutions, and the global in time existence of solutions. In addition, a new classification of nonlinear nonlocal equations is introduced. A large class of these equations is treated by a single method, the main features of which are apriori estimates in different integral norms and use of the Fourier transform. This book will interest specialists in partial differential equations, as well as physicists and engineers.

In the last few decades the theory of ordinary differential equations has grown rapidly under the action of forces which have been working both from within and without: from within, as a development and deepen ing of the concepts and of the topological and analytical methods brought about by LYAPUNOV, POINCARE, BENDIXSON, and a few others at the turn of the century; from without, in the wake of the technological development, particularly in communications, servomechanisms, auto matic controls, and electronics. The early research of the authors just mentioned lay in challenging problems of astronomy, but the line of thought thus produced found the most impressive applications in the new fields. The body of research now accumulated is overwhelming, and many books and reports have appeared on one or another of the multiple aspects of the new line of research which some authors call "qualitative theory of differential equations". The purpose of the present volume is to present many of the view points and questions in a readable short report for which completeness is not claimed. The bibliographical notes in each section are intended to be a guide to more detailed expositions and to the original papers. Some traditional topics such as the Sturm comparison theory have been omitted. Also excluded were all those papers, dealing with special differential equations motivated by and intended for the applications.
