Lahjakas futaaja opit-tiin aktiiviuransa aikana tuntemaan niin pelikentillä kuin niiden ulkopuolella tehdyistä tempuista. Jälkimmäiset eivät aina olleet mairittelevia. Värikkäässä omaelämäkerrassaan Atik kertoo avoimesti elämänsä eri vaiheista, rakkaudesta liikuntaan, jalkapalloammattilaisuudesta, pelin riemusta, juhlahetkistä, onnistumisista ja kompuroinneista. Yhtä paljon kuin jalkapallosta, kirja on tarina lööpeistä, julkisuudesta, riippuvuuksista, retkahduksista ja raittiudesta. Niin elämän huippuhetkiä kuin sen aallonpohjia on ollut jakamassa laaja ystäväpiiri, mm. Jukka Virtanen, Cisse Häkkinen ja Albert Järvinen. Atikilla on sanottavaa myös monikulttuurisuudesta, ihmissuhteista, valmentamisesta ja yhteiskunnalli-siin asioihin vaikuttamisesta. Elämä on ollut kirjava paletti, josta löytyvät kaikki värit kirkkaimmasta tummimpaan. Oman tarinansa ohessa Atik piirtää jäljittelemättömään tyyliinsä myös hienoa ajankuvaa kuudelta vuosi-kymmeneltä. Atik Ismail (s. 1957) on entinen jalkapalloilija. Aktiiviurallaan (1975-1987) hän pelasi Suomen A-maajoukkueessa 26 ottelua. Suomessa Ismail edusti Helsingin Jalkapalloklubia, Kiffeniä ja Kopareita. Yhteensä hän pelasi SM-sarjassa 201 ottelua, joissa viimeisteli 113 osumaa. Tämän lisäksi hän on pelannut Turkissa, Belgiassa ja Ruotsissa. Peliuransa jälkeen Atik Ismail on toiminut mm. jalkapallovalmentajana. Hän on myös julkaissut useita kirjoja, mm. teoksen Ammattina jalkapallo - Suomalaisfutaajat maailmalla 1952-2014.

Kay Nielsen (1886-1957) was a Danish illustrator of the golden age of illustration. He was influenced by Japanese art and the Swedish folklore – becoming a crucial participant in the Art Nouveaux movement. His art is characterised by long, swooping lines, open spaces and a certain macabre, yet ephemeral quality. Presented alongside the text, his illustrations further refine and elucidate Andersen's masterful storytelling.
