Atlas of Brain and Spine Oncology Imaging presents a comprehensive visual review of pathologic disease variations of cancers of the brain and spine through extensive radiologic images. The focus of the book is on algorithmic strategies for identifying neoplastic pathologies commonly found in brain and spinal tumors through a visual representation of the variety of appearances that each neoplasm takes, within both benign and malignant manifestations. With contributions from radiologists on staff at a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, who draw from an extensive collection of diagnostic images across all imaging modalities, this book will be valuable to practicing radiologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons and other practitioners involved in the diagnosis and treatment of brain and spinal neoplasms in all patient populations.

Although the field of Neuro-Oncology has grown considerably in the last 10 to 15 years and has a rather extensive literature, there are no comprehensive, "single-source books that summarize the current literature and future trends of neuroimaging in neuro-oncology. This book covers this topic in more comprehensive fashion, making it an important addition to the armamentarium of physicians that care for patients with brain tumors and other neuro-oncological disorders. Well-founded in basic science, it includes chapters that provide an overview of relevant background material in critical areas such as physics, contrast agents, ultra-high field brain MRI, and molecular imaging.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become the leading cross-sectional imaging method in clinical practice. Continuous technical improvements have significantly broadened the scope of applications. At present, MR imaging is not only the most important diagnostic technique in neuroradiology and musculoskeletal radiology, but has also become an invaluable diagnostic tool for abdominal, pelvic, cardiac, breast and vascular imaging. This book offers practical guidelines for performing efficient and cost-effective MRI examinations in daily practice. The underlying idea is that, by adopting a practical protocol-based approach, the work-flow in a MRI unit can be streamlined and optimized.

In this monograph, the authors summarize their findings in complex neuroimaging work (cranio-, spondylo-, myelo- and angiography as well as CT and MR imaging of the brain and spine) during their longstanding experience at the N. Burdenko Neurosurgical Institute in Moscow. The book begins with a review of modern neuroimaging techniques: CT and MR angiography, perfusion and diffusion imaging, tractography, spectroscopy and functional MR imaging. The problems and various other aspects of diagnosis of intra- and extra-axial brain tumors (more than 30,000 verified cases) as well as of cerebrovascular, infectious, demyelinating, degenerative and traumatic brain and spine lesions are discussed. The volume is well illustrated with angiographic, CT and MR images of complex diagnostic studies. The numerous images represent a "visual text," which can be used as an atlas by practical clinicians. This book is a comprehensive reference manual for neurologists, neurotraumatologists and radiologists. It may also be of interest to technicians, medical physicists, students and other specialists interested in neurovisualization and diagnostic imaging.

Targeted Molecular Imaging In Oncology written by E. Edmund Kim and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-29 with Medical categories.
Cancer cells dedifferentiate with repect to cell function; their vascularity is more leaky, but perfusion is heterogenerously reduced, and interstitial fluid pressure is high, severely retarding delivery of agents from the blood. Targeted imaging is designed to produce a detectable difference between tissue that is visualized with single photon and positron emission tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, or ultrasonography. This book uniquely reports strategies for the application of molecular targeted imaging agents such as antibodies, peptides, receptors and contrast agents in the biologic grading of tumors, differential diagnosis of tumors, prediction of therapeutic response and monitoring tumor response to treatment. This book also describes updated information about the imaging of tumor angiogenesis, hypoxia, apoptosis and gene delivery as well as expression in the understanding and utility of tumor molecular biology for better cancer management.
