Atma puja means worship of the Self . The embodied soul is the Atma in its limited and finite form of a body . Nevertheless , It is the spark of the supreme Brahman , the Paramatman , who is the Omnipotent , Omnipresent and Omniscient creator , supporter and devourer of this universe . Atma is also the changeless, fearless and deathless spirit . The embodied Atma being the spark like the rays of a sun is the conjunction of Vital force and Consciousness . How to worship this Atma ? -- . what is Atma ? ,- who is Paramatma ? -- what is this world ? , - what is desire , --what is consciousness ? and what we have to do to experience joy of life is the subject of Atma puja upanishad .

Atma puja upansiahd is one of the smallest upanishad which teaches us the methods of attaining Self Knowledge .. We are all spark of the supreme creator residing in the body enjoying the qualities of Nature . Body and mind are the outer coverings and they are the means for the Atma/ Soul for experiencing the world through the journey of life . Atma wherever it enters, it identifies with the container body and suffers the confinement . It forgets its true nature and suffers the travails of the body . Shedding all impurities that are the coverings, make the Atma realise its true nature which is vital force - consciousnes - bliss .

Traditionally, 'Who am I?' has been the central quest of Vedic texts. Knowing 'I' without any external attributes such as body, mind, age, etc. is termed as self-knowledge. Or, we can say that knowing 'what we are' and 'what we are not' constitutes the complete answer. For example, a transparent crystal placed near a hibiscus flower appears to be red. Until we see it without the flower, we'll not know that it is transparent and not red. Similarly, if our notion about ourselves is mixed with some external attributes, which are different from us, we'll perceive our reality differently. This wrong perception will give rise to various conflicts like death, pain, and anxiety. So, it looks imperative to know our fundamental reality to destroy the pain and taste the immortal bliss within. Once we accept that there is something we need to know, we talk about the ways in which the correct understanding can be reached. We find ways to test our understanding. And, we also want to know how this reality looks like. In this short, original, and profound work, Shankaracharya has answered these questions and shared his insight about non-dual reality.

Excerpt from Thirty Minor Upanishads For the first time it is, I believe, that the English translation of so many as 30 Upanishads is being put forth before the public in a collected form. Among the Hindu Scriptures, the Vedas hold the pre-eminent place. The Upanishads which are culled from the Aranyaka-portions of the Vedas - so-called because they were read in the Aranya (forest) after the learner had given up the life of the world are regarded as the Vedanta, or the end or final crown of the Vedas. Vedanta is also the end of all knowledge, since the word Vedas means according to its derivation 'knowledge'. Rightly were the Upanishads so considered, since their knowledge led a person to Atma, the goal of life. The other portion of the Vedas, viz., Samhitas and Brahmanas, conferred upon a man, if he should conform to the requisite conditions, the mastery of the Universe only which is certainly inferior to Atma. It is these Upanishads that to the western philosopher Schopenhauer were the "solace of life". There are now extant, in all, 108 Upanishads, of which the principal or major 12 Upanishads commented upon by Sri Sankaracharya and others were translated into English by Dr. Roer and Raja Rajendra Lai Mira and re-translated by Max Muller in his "Sacred Books of the East," together with one other Upanishad called Maifrayani. Of the rest, 95 in number, two or three Upanishada have appeared in English up to now, but never so many as are here presented to the public, so far as I am aware.
