Atmospheric Rivers written by F. Martin Ralph and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-10 with Science categories.

This book is the standard reference based on roughly 20 years of research on atmospheric rivers, emphasizing progress made on key research and applications questions and remaining knowledge gaps. The book presents the history of atmospheric-rivers research, the current state of scientific knowledge, tools, and policy-relevant (science-informed) problems that lend themselves to real-world application of the research—and how the topic fits into larger national and global contexts. This book is written by a global team of authors who have conducted and published the majority of critical research on atmospheric rivers over the past years. The book is intended to benefit practitioners in the fields of meteorology, hydrology and related disciplines, including students as well as senior researchers.

This book thoroughly examines aerosol pollution and aerosol atmospheric rivers (narrow corridors of concentrated suspended aerosols in the sky), exploring their significant effects on human health, the environment, and global climate. Readers will find detailed discussions on these phenomena' sources, composition, patterns, and advanced methods for their detection, monitoring, and mitigation. Each chapter examines the complex dynamics of aerosol atmospheric rivers and the use of data mining and artificial intelligence in analyzing aerosol pollution. The book also highlights the interactions between aerosol pollution, aerosol atmospheric rivers, and particulate matter concentrations with associated risk, offering practical adaptation, mitigation, and resilience strategies.

Atmospheric Rivers written by Brie Thomson and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023 with Poetry categories.

Atmospheric Rivers is my first poetry book, and as such it is incredibly close to my heart. The poems I have included are poems of healing, of learning to let go and be myself, of queerness, of mental illness, of the trauma inherent in being alive in our current society; but more than anything, this is a dedication of love, for you, for me, for our planet, and hope for our future. There is always beauty to be found if you are looking, and I hope this helps you to see it.

Satellite Radiothermovision Of Atmospheric Processes written by Dmitry M. Ermakov and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-09-29 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book summarizes the author’s research resulted in developing the satellite radiothermovision approach which allows retrieving dynamical and energy characteristics of atmospheric mesoscale and synoptic-scale processes based on a close scheme of satellite passive radiometry data processing. The book introduces new applications of the satellite passive microwave observations to detailed systematic study of tropical cyclones’ evolution, climatology and characteristics of atmospheric river, parameters of global atmospheric circulation and their variations on climatically significant scales. The results presented in the book demonstrate a clear relation between the convergence/divergence of latent heat from the lower atmosphere to the center of tropical cyclone with variations of its intensity and provide a better insight into the tropical cyclone dynamical energy balance based on remote data.

Science Of Weather Climate And Ocean Extremes written by John E. Hay and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-11-27 with Science categories.

Science of Weather, Climate and Ocean Extremes presents an evidence-based view of the most important ways in which the build-up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is affecting both our atmosphere and the oceans. The book provides compelling reasons why concerted action is required to slow the rate at which the atmosphere and oceans are changing. It not only covers longer-term changes in extremes and their causes, but also considers the drivers and attribution of extreme events, including relevant methods and techniques. Members of the Royal Meteorological Society are eligible for a 35% discount on all Developments in Weather and Climate Science series titles. See the RMetS member dashboard for the discount code. Provides an evidence-based understanding of a significant risk to the future performance of human and natural systems Includes assessments, advice and recommendations of extreme weather and climate events Features case studies from around the globe to provide further context to the research

Satellite Monitoring Of Water Resources In The Middle East written by Amin Shaban and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-10-15 with Science categories.

This book presents both updated and new measurements on water resources from selective pilot areas form the Middle East. Demand for water has become very crucial notably in arid and semiarid regions like in the Middle East. The changing climate and the increased population are the most striking challenges on water resources in this region where the largest part of its territory is dry lands and deserts with minimal precipitation and high evaporation rates, and thus, the average per capita of water does not exceed 25 m3/year. This resulted in developing many studies and researches in different Middle East countries to clearly identify and assess the hydrological characteristics of the available water resources and to explore new resources in order to secure balanced water supply/demand. As a first of its type, this book introduces comprehensive knowledge on the successful reports of the use of satellite images in water studies in the Middle East, and the economic value resulted from adopting these techniques. Based on illustrated case-studies the book will represent a significant resource for a large number of experts, academics, researchers, engineers and different-level stakeholders including the decision makers.

Escaping Nature written by Orrin H. Pilkey and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-02-23 with Nature categories.

Industrial and agricultural greenhouse gas emissions are rapidly warming Earth’s climate, unleashing rising seas, ocean acidification, melting permafrost, powerful storms, wildfires, floods, deadly heat waves, droughts, tsunamis, food shortages, and armed conflict over shrinking water supplies while reducing nutritional levels in crops. Billions of people will become climate refugees. Hotter temperatures will allow tropical diseases to spread into temperate regions. Higher levels of CO2, allergens, dust, and other particulate matter will impair our physical and mental health and even reduce our cognitive abilities. Climate change disproportionately affects the world’s poor. It also harms Nature, and could ultimately trigger a sixth mass extinction. In Escaping Nature, Orrin H. Pilkey and his coauthors offer concrete suggestions for how to respond to the threats posed by global climate change. They argue that while we wait for the world’s governments to get serious about mitigating climate change we can adapt to a hotter world through technological innovations, behavioral changes, nature-based solutions, political changes, and education.
