Welcome, dear reader, to the captivating and dynamic world of Shuttlecock Kicking, also known by its traditional name, Jianzi. This isn’t just a sport; it’s an art form, a cultural legacy, and a vibrant community that transcends borders and generations. For many, the first encounter with a shuttlecock is a moment of pure fascination – a simple feathered object dancing effortlessly through the air, propelled by the precise and agile movements of feet. My own journey into this mesmerizing sport began on a dusty, sun-drenched afternoon in a bustling city park. I watched, captivated, as a group of elderly men, their faces etched with years of wisdom and joy, engaged in a seemingly effortless ballet with a shuttlecock. The rhythmic thud of foot against feather, the graceful arcs of the shuttlecock, and the camaraderie shared among them painted a picture of profound beauty and simplicity. It was a moment that ignited a spark within me, a curiosity that quickly blossomed into a deep-seated passion. I picked up my first shuttlecock that day, clumsy and uncertain, but filled with an unyielding desire to master the art. This book is born from that passion and is meticulously crafted for anyone who wishes to embark on their own journey with Shuttlecock Kicking. Whether you are a complete beginner, taking your very first steps into this exciting world, a recreational player looking to refine your skills and enjoy the sport more fully, or a dedicated athlete striving for peak performance and competitive excellence, this guide is designed to be your comprehensive companion. We promise to deliver not just theoretical knowledge, but practical techniques, strategic insights, and a deeper understanding of the physical, mental, and social benefits that this incredible sport offers. From the ancient origins of Jianzi to the modern competitive arenas, we will explore every facet of Shuttlecock Kicking, empowering you to elevate your game and discover the profound joy that comes from mastering the art on two feet. Let the journey begin, and may your shuttlecock always take flight!

As a Chess Master who has spent many years playing aggressive and attacking chess, I was quite dismayed during a recent visit to my local bookstore. I was in search of a book that covered an array of attacks against many Pawn formations in an organized fashion. Needless to say, my search came up empty. The books on attacking fell short in many ways. Many of the books were simply a small collection of attack games with no instruction about the art of attacking or about the skills required to become a great attacker. None of them provided the reader with any reference information about attacking or the weaknesses of various Pawn formations. None of them contained games with attacking themes like the Traxler Variation of the Two Knight's Defense, and the Jack Young Fishing Pole. None of them contained any wild attacking ideas that can stream from opening gambits such as the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit, King's Gambit, Scotch Gambit, Nakhmanson Gambit, etc. 500 pages, 435 games, Figurine Chess Notation.

Opening preparation is useful, but understanding the middlegame is much more important. This book, an improved edition of a Russian classic, teaches amateur chess players 45 extremely effective skills in a crystal-clear manner. Quite a few of the ideas presented here will surprise the reader, because they offer solutions for problems the club player is only subconsciously aware. How do you activate your rook pawn? How do you prevent your opponent from opening a file? How do you restrict the efficacy of your opponents pieces? Which rook belongs on the c-, d- or e-file? What is the best way to exchange a piece? How do you castle artificially? In most cases the techniques are easy to understand and memorize. Bronznik and Terekhin do not burden the reader with deep analysis and only present those variations that are really necessary to get the point. There is a special training section at the end of the book where you can test your skills. ,
