This volume reconstructs the contents of the library in Roman Palestine of Eusebius of Caesarea (ca. 265-339) by examining Eusebius’ major works, the Ecclesiastical History, Chronicon,Preparation for the Gospel, and Life of Constantine. After surveying the history of the library from its origins as an ecclesiastical archive and its true foundation by Origen of Alexandria to its disappearance in the seventh century, it discusses how Eusebius used his sources and then examines what specific works were available in the library in chapters devoted to philosophical works, poetry and rhetoric, histories, Jewish and Christian works, and contemporary documents. The 18th International Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science (WG '92) was held in Wiesbaden-Naurod, Germany, June 18-20, 1992. Itwas organized by the Department of Computer Science, Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main. Contributions with original results inthe study and application of graph-theoretic concepts in various fields of computer science were solicited, and 72 papers were submitted and reviewed, from which 29 were selected for presentation at the workshop. The workshop was attended by 61 scientists from 16 countries. All 29 papers in the volume have undergone careful revision after the meeting, based on the discussions and comments from the audience and the referees. The volume is divided into parts on restricted graph classes, scheduling and related problems, parallel anbd distributed algorithms, combinatorial graph problems, graph decomposition, graph grammars and geometry, and modelling by graphs.

Die 1925 gegründete Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, die erste deutsche Zentralinstitution zur Auswahl und Förderung von Hochbegabten, war eines der größten bildungspolitischen Reformprojekte der Zwischenkriegszeit. Die von der Reformpädagogik beeinflusste, von führenden Bildungspolitikern und – programmatikern wie Carl Heinrich Becker, Eduard Spranger, Hermann Nohl und Theodor Litt gestaltete Stiftung diente der gezielten Erschließung von Bildungsreserven. Sie förderte bis zur Auflösung 1934 nach den Auswahlkriterien Begabung, Persönlichkeit und Bedürftigkeit Studenten und Doktoranden aller Studienfächer. Ihre Geschichte ist ein Beispiel defensiver und partieller Modernisierung durch die Professionalisierung von Identifizierung, Auswahl und Förderung Hochbegabter, schließlich nach der Neugründung 1948 auch durch die Entwicklung von der sozial- zur individualemanzipatorischen Förderung. Ein zweiter Professionalisierungsschub folgte Anfang der 1970er Jahre mit der Verwissenschaftlichung der Hochbegabungs-Diagnostik unter dem Einfluss psychologisch-pädagogisch-sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschung.
