Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Politik - Region: Ferner Osten, Note: 2,0, Universität Rostock (Institut für Politik- und Verwaltungswissenschaften), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Mit dem Begriff "China" wird zumeist die Volksrepublik China angesprochen, die sich seit der marktwirtschaftlichen Öffnung Ende der 1970er Jahre zu einer Regionalmacht in Asien entwickelte und heute als unabdingbarer Akteur der Weltwirtschaft gilt. Jedoch überschatten innenpolitische Krisen die außenwirtschaftlichen Erfolge Chinas. Insbesondere abtrünnige Provinzen wie Tibet oder Xinjiang, die sich um eine Unabhängigkeit von der Volksrepublik bemühen, sind oftmals Fokus der westlichen Berichterstattung. Neben diesen zwei Provinzen existiert im ostchinesischen Meer die Insel Taiwan. Nach dem chinesischen Bürgerkrieg floh die chinesische Nationalpartei Guomindang 1949 nach Taiwan und etablierte dort die Republik China, welche bereits 1912 auf Festlandchina gegründet wurde. Seit 1949 kämpft die Republik China auf Taiwan für ihre Unabhängigkeit von der Volksrepublik China, welche dies jedoch zu unterbinden weiß. Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Ein-China-Prinzip, nach dem es heißt, dass nur eines der beiden Chinas eine rechtmäßige Existenzberechtigung vorzuweisen hat. Während die Volksrepublik Taiwan als abtrünnige Provinz betrachtet und in der Vergangenheit mehrfach versuchte, Taiwan durch militärische Mittel Festlandchina einzuverbleiben, gehen die Meinungen in Taiwan auseinander, ob eine Wiedervereinigung mit Festlandchina angestrebt werden soll, oder eine Unabhängigkeit fokussiert wird. Dahingehend hat die Republik China auf Taiwan mit einigen internationalen Problemen zu kämpfen, da sie von einem Großteil der internationalen Staatengemeinschaft diplomatisch nicht als eigenständiger Staat anerkannt sowie auch nicht Mitglied der Vereinten Nationen ist. Allein durch der Ersatz der Außenpolitik durch eine aktive Außenwirtschaft, kann sich die Republik China auf Taiwan als geschätzten Partner etablieren. Ist die Republik China ein eigenständiger Staat, oder wird weiterhin am Status-quo der Verhandlungen mit der Volksrepublik festgehalten, um eine Entscheidung über den Status der Republik China bewusst hinauszuzögern?

China and Europe both decisively shape twenty-first century global politics. Successful cooperation between Europe and China continues, notably in climate change mitigation, or finding a way out of the financial crisis. Relations are also increasingly institutionalised, such as through Summits or High-Level Dialogues. However, although in 2013 the EU and China have celebrated the 10-year-anniversary of their Strategic Partnership, struggles have re-emerged, in relation to human rights, intervention in crisis regions such as Syria, and trade subsidisation and protectionism in areas such as the solar energy industry.
