Three Times the Loveis the inspiring true story of an ordinary American family who face an extraordinary challenge. Lynn and Randy Gaston were overjoyed to discover they were having triplets after many arduous years of trying to conceive. But eighteen months after their births, Lynn and Randy's sons began exhibiting odd new behaviors-among them, toe walking, arm flapping, and in one of the boys, Nicholas, a sudden muteness. Terrified and dumbfounded, Lynn began researching their behavior on the Internet. The same glaring diagnosis kept popping up-each boy was displaying symptoms of autism, though at different points on the spectrum. With little support from their own pediatrician, Randy and Lynn continued to investigate autism and alternative treatments exhaustively, convinced that Nicholas, Hunter, and Zachary needed immediate help. With nowhere to turn, they hired their own therapists and began intensive behavioral treatment, not covered by their health insurance. Stymied when their own public school misdiagnosed the boys, they eventually decided to sell their house and move to a school district that offered therapy programs for children with autism. Along this challenging and confusing journey, Randy and Lynn have become fierce advocates for their sons as they race against time to find answers. And they've made it their mission to arm other parents with the information, guidance, and support they were looking for so desperately once their boys began regressing. With invaluable advice ranging from educational programs to legal issues to a comprehensive assessment of the therapies and interventions that have worked for their three unique children, the Gastons provide a road map for all families who will need to follow them through the trenches. Three Times the Loveis the beautifully told story of the unstoppable devotion of two loving parents to their children. Filled with practical advice and an extensive resource list, it is an essential guide for any family touched by autism.

Parents' experiences with treatments that have worked for their children with ASD are telltale signs that science has not yet validated. According to the current classification, Autism Spectrum Disorder encompasses a whole series of neurodevelopmental difficulties for which no conclusive causes have been discovered, nor proven treatments. It seems an established fact that autism has no cure. Meanwhile, as the number of diagnoses increase, many specialists propose to treat this condition by working on the potential causes through different strategies such as anti-inflammatory diets or antiparasitic treatments.

The Natural Medicine Guide To Autism written by Stephanie Marohn and has been published by Hampton Roads Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-01-01 with Psychology categories.

As autism rates in children continue to rise--the latest studies suggest anywhere from 1 in 50 to 1 in 100 American children is autistic—parents are scrambling to find effective treatment methods The Natural Medicine Guide to Autism offers answers by exploring a range of effective treatment options and the possibility of a positive outcome via natural medicine therapies. The book covers the basics of autism--what it is and what causes it--and the factors that are often involved in the disorder: heavy metal toxicity, nutritional deficiencies/imbalances, food allergies, digestive problems and fungal overgrowth, viruses or viral overload, immune dysfunction, problems in the birthing process, energetic legacies from unresolved family issues in previous generations, and vaccines. It also covers a range of natural medicine treatments, including elimination diets, listening and learning skills, nutritional supplements to correct imbalances, cranial osteopathy to reverse birth trauma, and many more. A chapter is also devoted to the deeper question of what makes a child susceptible to autism. Included in this discussion is the work of William J. Walsch, PhD, whose research may well have pinpointed the genetic component of autism that has previously eluded scientific inquiry.

Max Miller is a 12 year old high functioning autistic. Max was diagnosed with autism at age 5. His original prognosis was that he would never learn and was deemed “unteachable.” It was recommended to his parents that he be institutionalized as he would never thrive. His parents defied this assertion and pressed forward with a blend of traditional and non-traditional therapeutic methods. The blend of methods worked and Max began to communicate. Max was non-verbal until age 6. He did not learn to read and write until age 10. He is now integrated in the classroom and reads at grade level. Due to his disability, Max encountered many forms of discrimination, mostly due to ignorance. He was denied access to the many things allotted to children—sports, education, scouting, birthday parties, even playdates. Despite these harms, Max chose not to be bitter. He embraced his autism and became an advocate for himself and for other children on the spectrum. When words were difficult to come by, Max would use art to communicate his feelings to his mother. He now uses art and essays as a tool to educate others about what it is like to have autism. An aspiring artist, his art has been displayed at the Denver Art Museum and 40 West Gallery. His art show, Insight into the Autistic Mind, is on constant display as part of Max’s in-services for groups interested in autism. He was profiled in the local media for his advocacy. Max has his own Facebook page for his art show and at present has 200 likes and growing. Max lives in Denver, Colorado with his mom and dad and four cats. He has a love of skateboarding, his PS3, writing, art and music. He wants to be a DJ and play in a jazz band when he grows up.
