Esta primeira análise chega até a CID 11, adotada mundialmente em 2022. Em seguida, a partir da Psicanálise, a obra apresenta reflexões sobre aspectos teóricos e metapsicológicos que sustentam a possibilidade de se repensar o autismo como uma outra forma de ser para si e estar com o outro que indica desde a transição contemporânea de humanização até os limites da escuta e do cuidado com as condições particulares de ser autista. Nessa particularidade, introduz ao leitor o Projeto OLHAR, que, na avaliação de bebês, a partir do Protocolo PREAUT, contabilizou 4.745 atendimentos em três cidades do sul de Minas Gerais e suas microrregiões (Poços de Caldas, Três Pontas e Varginha). Desse estudo, uma indicação da importância de se pensar no caso a caso para compreender os riscos que se colocam em momentos de impasses na humanização; mas sem a pressa diagnóstica. Acerca das questões do autismo, apresentam-se debates, discussões e reflexões de profissionais que atuam no atendimento clínico e psiquiátrico de crianças diagnosticadas como autistas. Sobre a situação atual das crianças, problematizando o diagnóstico de crianças pandemizadas, tal discussão é essencial.
