Millennials and Gen Zers have been characterized as individualistic capitalist consumers, as politically unengaged and spiritually selfish, or only interested in identity politics. This edited collection, by bringing together younger generations of theologians, activists, campaigners, artists, and those working in politics, academia, the church, economics, or community work, offers a new narrative of justice- one that is globally aware and actively intersectional. Bringing together powerful young voices with a wealth of contextually grounded experiences of faith and justice, spreading over Mexico, India, Nagaland, Germany, Wales, Ecuador, South Africa, Palestine, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Scotland, England and the Pacific, the chapters in this book imagine daring new possibilities. Together the chapters reveal a generation who face a burning, politically and religiously right-leaning, egotistical world, and who know clearly that the legacies of Empire, which continue white hegemony, patriarchy, heterosexuality, normalized cisgender identities, the class war, colonial debts, Western epistemology, and ecological extraction, must be overcome and replaced by a transnational solidarity of resistance and reimagination.

This collection of previously published papers can be viewed as a story of the gradual emergence of an overarching idea through the course of a life’s work. The idea concerns the way emerging knowledge of developmental processes, biological systems, and therapeutic process can be integrated in terms of basic principles that govern the living system as an ongoing creative process – a process in which there is a continuing impetus, both energizing and motivational, that moves the living system toward an enhanced coherence in its engagement with its surround as it achieves an ever-increasing inclusiveness of complexity. The papers have been selected in a roughly chronological order from a career of early developmental research within the background of psychoanalytic thinking. The biological underpinnings of psychoanalysis can be extended by systems thinking. Our notions of the evolution of consciousness can also be extended from this simple level of a neural machinery essential for adaptation and survival to the capacity for the awareness of one’s own inner state within the flow of one’s engagement with one’s surround. From this enrichment of inner experiencing through evolving self-awareness, the unique organization of the "person" emerges within the developmental process – from expectancies and emotions, to values, meaning, purpose, goals, and "direction". The title of the book has been chosen to capture this sequence. Further evolution of conscious organization will enable the human species to achieve the state of being "together-with" and yet "distinct-from" as the system as a whole, on a wider, more global level, gains increasing coherence as it complexity increases. Hopefully, the implications of this idea will emerge in the reader’s thinking, as the chapters move from the level of adaptation to recognition.

In this groundbreaking relationship book, positive emotions expert Barbara L. Fredrickson gives us an entirely new way of understanding love and appreciating its benefits. “A radically new conception of love.”—The Atlantic Even more than happiness and optimism, love holds the key to improving our mental and physical health as well as lengthening our lives. Using research from her own lab, Barbara L. Fredrickson redefines love not as a stable behemoth, but as micro-moments of connection between people—even strangers. She demonstrates that our capacity for experiencing love can be measured and strengthened in ways that improve our health and longevity. Finally, she introduces us to informal and formal practices to unlock love in our lives, generate compassion, and even self-soothe. Rare in its scope and ambitious in its message, Love 2.0 will reinvent how you look at and experience our most powerful emotion. “I wish I had known years ago about...Barbara Fredrickson...In particular her theory that accumulating ‘micro-moments of positivity,’ like my daily interaction with children, can, over time, result in greater overall well-being.”—Jane Brody, The New York Times

“Nature deficit disorder” has become an increasingly challenging problem in our hypermodern world. In Awake in the Wild, Mark Coleman shows seekers how to remedy this widespread malady by reconnecting with nature through Buddhism. Each short (two to three pages) chapter includes a concrete nature meditation relating to such topics as Attuning to the Natural World, Reflecting the Rhythms of Nature, Walking with Compassion, Releasing the Inner Noise, Freeing the Animal Within, Coming into the Peace of Wild Things, Weathering the Storms of Life, and more. Incorporating anecdotes from the author’s many nature retreats, Buddhist wisdom and teachings, important nature writings by others, and nature itself, the book invites readers to participate in, not just observe, nature; develop a loving connection with the earth as a form of environmental activism; decrease urban alienation through experiencing nature; embody nature’s peaceful presence; and connect with ancient spiritual wisdom through nature meditations.

Into Abyssinia written by Carl E. Hansen and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-03-29 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

In this autobiographical book, the author gives an informative and lively account of the first eight years of his and his family's living and serving in pre-revolutionary feudal Ethiopia. It is a story of adventure as a novice missionary couple learns and adapts to a vastly different culture while raising a family in the less developed hinterlands. The events take place from 1967 to 1975, a pivotal time in Ethiopia’s history; a time marked by growing discontent with feudalism and the ancient imperial regime that supported it. It was a time of growing turmoil that, in the midst of drought and famine, spilled over into an armed revolution; a time when ignorant men with guns over-powered the best minds and forced a tradition-bound society to join in a bloody experiment with radical socialism. It was a time when the slow and difficult years of missionary effort in planting the seeds of the Christian gospel began to sprout and take root and grow into what would become a mighty movement of transformation in that society.

Women Leadership In Emerging Markets written by Shireen Chengadu and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-06 with Business & Economics categories.

This book focuses on the increase in female leadership over the last fifty years, and the concrete benefits and challenges this leads to in organizations. It moves beyond the typical focus on developed, Western contexts and answers the call for research on how women in emerging markets rise above the proverbial “glass ceiling”. The authors integrate two underdeveloped topics that are highly relevant to modern business: women in leadership roles, and women in emerging markets. They examine how women leaders in a range of professional services—including accounting, consulting, law, engineering and medicine—have managed to navigate their careers while considering the role emerging markets play in their work. Based on cutting-edge research, the topics are brought to life through examples and profiles of leading women across Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. These narratives, told in the leaders’ own words, are key to understanding women’s achievements and the barriers they face. Students of leadership, diversity, gender studies, and human resource management will learn much from this insightful book.
