What a gift life is! It comes ready to open every morning. Each day is totally unique. Each day can be a new adventure. It can be a source of joy, or of sorrow. It all depends on how we approach it. The secret to joyful living is learning to look at life through the eyes of a small child. As a bona fide baby boomer, I have lived a life filled with many joys and some regrets. Today I choose to live life in joy and with a sense of childlike wonderment. This book is a reflection on how to recapture the sense of wonder and joy we were born with. This book is a collection of thoughts, ramblings, and experiences about our special gift of life. Baby Boomer Ramblings offers my thoughts, observations and suggestions, on living life in a more positive and happier way. All of this is wrapped around a poem, or more correctly, a poem wrapped around lifes gifts. Personally, I prefer to live life as a poem. Poetry adds magic to life. Its the minds and hearts way of expressing ones inner voice. That is what this book does. Unlike a textbook of life that one reads and studies, poetry is recited by ones mind and speaks to ones heart and spirit. At the minimum, this book offers some food for thought on how to live in the moment. Learn how to live life with a sense of awe and childlike glee. As a baby boomer who has experienced around two-thirds of my life, Im finally at that stage where Ive finally got it. Read this book and discover how to have contentment and laughter. Become a childlike poet of life and be forever young!

Ramblings Of A Baby Boomer written by Norman Burt and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-07 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

With hardly a nod to chronology, The author moves back and forth through the first twenty years of his life, from trams, horses and valve wirelesses to scooters, cars and rock and roll, boozy coach trips To The seaside, youth clubs and Carnaby Street fashions. The book is about not being very special at a very special time, An ordinary life during extraordinary times, The bombs had finished falling on London some two years before the author was born and so he entered a world where the sky was the limit And The journey was exciting, though cockroaches and smogs had to be dealt with first. Hand built bicycles and soapcarts made way for Vespa's and Lambretta's while grey flannel shorts and long socks lost out to 60's fashions of flairs and tank tops. A camping holiday and holiday camps, boozing and parties, girls And The lack of them, voyeurism, The cold war And The not so cold war, all of these played a part in life and so deserve a mention in the book. One mans life, humourous and unique, no two lives are the same so this one deserves to be told.

Baby Boomers experienced a world growing up that is very different from the one we live in today. Some say it's better, and some say it's worse. We can all agree it's very different. These are humor columns about being a Baby Boomer. Baby Boomers came of age in a time when there were water fountains instead of hydration stations. Our childhood was filled with playing outside. When we were forced to stay inside it was tantamount to being punished. We spoke to people in person and understood body language. There was no cyber world. We all had to learn how to deal with reality. There were no computer games. There were pick-up sports based on who had a baseball, football, basketball or other sports equipment. Playing a game depended on if the sports equipment owners were willing to share. Card games were played with real cards. We camped out without adults, went on bike hikes, swam in creeks and more. Now we're middle age or older. Our bodies are changing, and the world around us continues to make less and less sense. This book is about the many common things experienced by Baby Boomers. Just like the song from the group "The Who", I'm "Talkin' 'bout my generation.

Balsamic Dreams written by Joe Queenan and has been published by Henry Holt and Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-06-01 with Humor categories.

The author of the bestselling Red Lobster, White Trash, and the Blue Lagoon takes aim at the boomer generation in a hilarious work of social commentary. It's become fashionable to vilify baby boomers. Professional iconoclast and baby boomer Joe Queenan, however, takes a somewhat more benign position: Yes, the baby boomers are venal, self-obsessed egomaniacs blighted by an insalubrious interest in things like the provenance of their neighbors' balsamic vinegar. But this does not make them the "worst generation" -- it just makes them the most annoying. In Balsamic Dreams, Queenan chronicles the evolution of his generation and critiques its current condition in chapters such as: --J'Accuse: a bold indictment of the boomers' greatest transgressions, past and present --Ten Days That Rocked the World: in which Queenan identifies the precise moments things went awry (#1: the release of Carole King's Tapestry) --Careful, the Staff Might Hear You: an examination of the unspoken, nefarious alliance between baby boomers and Generation X --American History: The B-Sides: an alternative version of the Republic as played out with baby boomers in the starring roles A measured (if a tad cranky) assessment of a generation whose greatest sin lies in confusing lifestyle for life and pop culture for culture, Balsamic Dreams is fresh, funny, and irresistible.

This book is the story about one individual who was born and grew up as a baby boomer in the United States. It begins by introducing his parents, who are Norwegian and grew up in Canada. They move to the United States, and soon after, Michael Larsen is born in California. The book begins by following Michael’s life from birth through high school and speaks to situations and events that happened in his personal life during that period. It also addresses actual world and national events as they happened in real time. The story progresses through his life as a soldier in the army and being sent to Vietnam. Once home from the war, he goes to college at Fresno State, meeting new friends, falling in love, and marrying. Family situations, jobs, social status, and political views continue to change as Michael ages and steps into changing technology, ever-increasing unrest throughout the world, and the new age of terrorism. The book ends with Michael retiring and reflecting on his life’s accomplishments and regrets as he enters the winter of his life. This book chronicles one person’s story of growing up in the generation known as baby boomers. There are seventy-five million other stories still untold; this is just one.

All baby boomers are children of their time. In Our Time After a While, writer Lloyd Billingsley backpacks into that time, the tail end of the tail-fi n era, in its very birthplace. In the motor cities of Detroit and Windsor, the streets, schools and parks jostled with a vast cast of characters. The author charts their adventures, and the sound track no border could stop, and which would spread around the world. This was long ago, but like Bob Seger the author is still humming a song from 1962, and still looking back in wonder. In Our Time After a While, his fellow baby boomers and all others can join him. Memories are made of this.

Mercurochrome. JFK. Beatlemania. Vietnam. Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll. These are just some of the memories from the Baby Boom era that are captured in NOW they make it legal: Reflections of an aging Baby Boomer. The book traces the evolution of American culture from the “black and white” 1950s through the turbulent 1960s and into the ‘70s, ending in the 1980s “when we began to turn into our parents.” It tells the history of the Baby Boom generation through the eyes of one of the 80 million people born between 1946 and 1964 – the greatest period of population growth in U.S. history. Baby Boomers grew up during a time of great change in America and had a major impact – in music, politics, pop culture and society at large. This nostalgic and fact-filled collection of stories will entertain those who were there, and educate those who weren’t.
