Just A Bug On The Windshield Of Life written by James Rudd and has been published by Page Publishing Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-02-13 with Fiction categories.

Life’s experiences mold our character and shape us for the adult we eventually become. All too often we take our growing-up (younger) years for granted and generally mark the “sweet sixteen” age as a benchmark from which we not only start driving but that’s usually as far back as we recall. “Just A Bug On The Windshield Of Life” explores the adventures of a child (Jim Rudd) at a very young age and through many decades. A simpler way of life was enjoyed, one that built upon the imagination without television, video games, cell phones, calculators, etc. We knew our neighbors, raised gardens, had picnics on blankets, family reunions and conversations while sitting on porch swings. A comparative scenario is made with a bug, a car’s windshield, the windshield wiper and how we potentially fit into one of these three descriptions. As years pass the scenario changes and we start growing up, having various adventures, stress and challenges. We’re then repositioned from the original scenario. No matter where you might relate and picture yourself within the book, as you relive your own life’s experiences, the thrill of childhood and growing up can be felt throughout the book. When you read about the various character descriptions of family members and then on to the many stories and explorations which are told, you are drawn in to the next story and then the next. You soon realize that this is not only a book about some of the life events of Jim Rudd but it’s also a description of how God works in our lives to mold us and offer us an opportunity to become one of His children. Two hundred seven various stories are told in the twenty chapters. Each story is a footstep in the life of the author. It’s fun to read, laugh and enjoy a simpler period in time. It’s also easy to realize and recall how you too had similar events that helped you to become what you are today. The various sketches seen throughout the book offer visual references that bring life to the many stories. Spend some time not only reading the text but studying the various sketches. You will see adventure and action in every sketch as your imagination brings them to life. The original concept of this book was to leave a legacy for my children, grandchildren and the generations that follow. Others encouraged me to make this book available for the general public to enjoy. With that in mind, I offer this book with a hope of personally meeting each and every one that read and liked this book. I may have to wait until heaven for this wish to come true. God bless you for reading my book.

Signs Of A Life written by Liam Samolis and has been published by FriesenPress this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-07-09 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Much like his beloved – and somewhat decrepit – cars, Liam Samolis (NOT his real name; that was changed in order to protect his wife and children from ridicule on the off chance some of their friends will read his work) is hurtling towards 50 with the brakes failing. The painful loss of his father leads Liam to look back at his life as he contemplates the legacy he is leaving his own children; resulting in a hilarious, often self-deprecating, and ALWAYS brutally, side-splittingly, honest glimpse at the path that has led him to become the man that he is. With stories about growing up as a painfully shy child in England, going to an all-boys’ school, and what can only be described as the most uproariously hysterical bar scene EVER written, Liam also recounts his days as a police officer, the births of his children, and saying goodbye to his father. What began as a legacy to his children will send readers into peals of raucous laughter, likely leading them to tears and other unexpected bodily functions. If you read one book this year, Signs of (a) Life should be it – nowhere else will you be so moved by a man simply living. www.liamsamolis.com

The Good Enough Life written by Daniel Miller and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-11-08 with Social Science categories.

This book is a highly original exploration of what life could and should be. It juxtaposes a philosophical enquiry into the nature of the good life with an ethnography of people living in a small Irish town. Attending carefully to the everyday lives of these people, the ethnographic chapters examine topics ranging from freedom and inequality to the creation of community and the purpose of life. These chapters alternate with discussions of similar topics by a wide range of philosophers in the Western tradition, from Socrates and the Stoics through Kant, Hegel and Heidegger to Adorno, Rawls, MacIntyre and Nussbaum. As an ethnography, this is a book of praise that reveals just how much we can learn from a respectful acknowledgment of what ordinary modest people have achieved. By creating community as a deliberate and social project that provides the foundation for a more fulfilling life, where affluence has not led to an increase in individualism, the people in this town have found a way to live the good enough life. The book also shows how anthropology and philosophy can complement and enrich one another in an inquiry into what we might accomplish in our lives.

The Embassy Of Cambodia written by Zadie Smith and has been published by Penguin UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-07 with Fiction categories.

Revisiting the terrain of her acclaimed novel NW, The Embassy of Cambodia is another remarkable work of fiction from Zadie Smith. 'The fact is, if we followed the history of every little country in the world -- in its dramatic as well as its quiet times -- we would have no space left in which to live our own lives or apply ourselves to our necessary tasks, never mind indulge in occasional pleasures, like swimming . . . ' First published in the New Yorker, The Embassy of Cambodia is a rare and brilliant story that takes us deep into the life of a young woman, Fatou, domestic servant to the Derawals and escapee from one set of hardships to another. Beginning and ending outside the Embassy of Cambodia, which happens to be located in Willesden, north-west London, Zadie Smith's absorbing, moving and wryly observed story suggests how the apparently small things in an ordinary life always raise larger, more extraordinary questions. 'Its range is lightly immense... a fiction of consequences both global and heart-rendingly intimate' Guardian 'Smith serves up a smasher' Independent Playful... unexpected and absolutely right... Skips to a beat all of its own' Times Praise for NW: 'A triumph . . .modern London is explored in a dazzling portrait . . . every sentence sings' Guardian 'Intensely funny, richly varied, always unexpected. A joyous, optimistic, angry masterpiece. No better English novel will be published this year' Philip Hensher, Daily Telegraph 'Absolutely brilliant . . . So electrically authentic, it reads like surveillance transcripts' Lev Grossman, TIME
