BAILOUT? BALONEY! disputes the government claim of a bailout of the auto industry. Congress voted 52-35 "against" a bailout, and the Obama-Rattner study group actually drove Chrysler and General Motors into bankruptcy. Ford avoided bankruptcy by using a $23 billion bank loan for working capital. The loan was obtained in 2006 for restructuring and saved Ford during the recession. The 2008 recession caused auto sales to drop 40% and Detroit fell into a depression. The government caused the 2008 recession with the attempt to give home loans to everybody even though many could not afford a home. Legislation eliminated down payments and income verification for home mortgages, and many mortgages went into bankruptcy. Wall Street was near bankruptcy when its toxic mortgage bonds failed. When Lehman Brothers went bankrupt, the 2008 Great Housing Recession was underway. The government attempted to stem the recession by creating a $700 billion TARP fund for troubled assets. Financial institutions were bailed out with $600 billion, but the auto companies were denied a $35 billion loan. After Congress voted against a bailout, President Obama was the last resort. Instead of granting TARP funds to save Chrysler and GM, the president started a task force to further study the auto problem. The five-month Rattner study resulted in the bankruptcy of Chrysler and GM. There was no bailout, only bankruptcy. The government claim of a bailout is a complete falsehood, and how it can claim a bailout is a Washington spin on bankruptcy.

An engaging look at what led to the financial turmoil we now find ourselves in Bailout Nation offers one of the clearest looks at the financial lenders, regulators, and politicians responsible for the financial crisis of 2008. Written by Barry Ritholtz, one of today's most popular economic bloggers and a well-established industry pundit, this book skillfully explores how the United States evolved from a rugged independent nation to a soft Bailout Nation-where financial firms are allowed to self-regulate in good times, but are bailed out by taxpayers in bad times. Entertaining and informative, this book clearly shows you how years of trying to control the economy with easy money has finally caught up with the federal government and how its practice of repeatedly rescuing Wall Street has come back to bite them. The definitive book on the financial crisis of 2008 Names the culprits responsible for this tragedy-from financial regulators to politicians Shows how each bailout throughout modern history has impacted what happened in the future Examines why the consumer/taxpayer is left suffering in an economy of bubbles, bailouts, and possible inflation Ritholtz operates a hugely popular blog, www.ritholtz.com/blog Scathing, but fair, Bailout Nation is a voice of reason in these uncertain economic times.

Understanding how Congressional political parties utilize floor procedure to advance a legislative agenda is fundamental to understanding how Congress operates. This book offers students and researchers an in-depth understanding of the procedural tools available to congressional leaders and committee chairs and how those tools are implemented in the House of Representatives, the Senate, and during negotiations between the chambers. While other volumes provide the party or the procedural perspective, this book combines these two features to create a robust analysis of the role that party can play in making procedural decisions. Additionally, the contributors provide an opportunity to take a holistic look at Congress and understand the changing dynamics of congressional power and its implementation over time. The second edition of Party and Procedure in the United States Congress includes case studies and analyses of the changes and innovations that have occurred since 2012, including the “nuclear option.”

This is a story about one of our own, a US Army Sergeant who returns home after serving many years overseas. He had been to two different wars and, after 14 years overseas, this was to be his first duty assignment inside the United States. He encountered great difficulty from his home state when he tried to obtain his local driver's license, and only with the aid of a state senator, was he able to obtain his license. Then, when he went to register his car, in the new state where he was assigned, he noticed that he was being required to pay for unusual things before he was allowed to register his car. After going through all the local government's money making schemes, he, along with his wife and children, bought a house, using a mortgage, not far from where they were renting. They did so just in time to get caught up in the developing housing crisis that may affect his family's ability to hold on to their beautiful home. The sergeant had to do some quick thinking and find out everything he could about what was really going on; was there a conspiracy for the rich to get richer-at the expense of everyone else-was he the subject of predatory lending, and would his family suffer through the embarrassment of the foreclosure process? The sergeant began researching the history of land development, mortgaging, foreclosure, the economic crisis, and the government's involvement in all of this-and this is what he learned.

Scary headlines and scarier statistics tell the story of a financial crisis on a scale not seen in decades - certainly not within the lifetime of most Americans. Moreover, this is a worldwide financial crisis. Financial institutions on both sides of the Atlantic have either collapsed or have been saved from collapse by government bailouts, as a result of buying securities based on American housing values that eroded or evaporated. Now completely revised in paperback, The Housing Boom and Bust is designed to unravel the tangled threads of that story. It also attempts to determine whether what is being done to deal with the problem is more likely to make things better or worse.

1984 Redux written by Andrew Curtiss and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with categories.

July, 2009; Andrew Curtiss received a Chain Mail in his E-Mail box. The Message was sent to him from a former colleague he served with in the US Army Special Forces at Fort Bragg North Carolina. The subject line of the message read "Congratulations you made the terrorist watch list!" The content suggested that the Department of Homeland Security had labled millions of Americans who are Constitutionalists, Pro Life, of Christian faith, voters for rightwing politics, are combat veterans and more; as potential domestic terrorists. After researching the matter Andrew found that the DHS did infact publish such a report that was meant to be confidential for law enforcement only. The report was published April 7, 2009. It was during Andrew's research into the matter that he realized the "Fundamental Transformation" of America as promised by Barrack Obama was indeed transforming America into something much like Oceania in George Orwell's "1984." 1984 Redux digs deep into the issues facing Americans today as America "Fundamentally Transforms." Curtiss draws the comparison of where Obama and his leftist handlers and drones want to take America as part of this transformation; to the extreme Socialist Oligarchy depicted in Orwell's "1984." Supported by scores of references and facts, one might be surprised to see how close to Orwell's nightmarish depiction America is headed. 1984 Redux is not only a wakeup call to America, but the world; as to what could be if the most influential nation in the world and "last hope for freedom" falls to the left.
