Anne's diagnosis of terminal cancer shines a spotlight onto fractured relationships with her daughter and granddaughter, with surprising, heartwarming results. A moving, elegant and warmly funny novel by the Norwegian Anne Tyler. 'Helga Flatland writes with such astuteness ... Her portrayal of a fractured family trying to cope through emotional personal circumstances was perfect. I devoured this in two sittings and was overwhelmed with feelings for the characters' Nina Pottell, Prima 'Sometimes you simply don't have words to express the beauty and experience of a book – this is one of them' Louise Beech _______________ Anne's life is rushing to an unexpected and untimely end. But her diagnosis of terminal cancer isn't just a shock for her – and for her daughter Sigrid and granddaughter Mia – it shines a spotlight onto their fractured and uncomfortable relationships. On a spur-of-the moment trip to France the three generations of women reveal harboured secrets, long-held frustrations and suppressed desires, and learn humbling and heart-warming lessons about how life should be lived when death is so close. With all of Helga Flatland's trademark humour, razor-sharp wit and deep empathy, One Last Time examines the great dramas that can be found in ordinary lives, asks the questions that matter to us all – and ultimately celebrates the resilience of the human spirit, in an exquisite, enchantingly beautiful novel that urges us to treasure and rethink ... everything. For fans of Elena Ferrante, Maggie O'Farrell, Mike Gayle, Joanna Cannon, Sally Rooney and Carol Shields. _______________ 'The most beautiful, elegant writing I've read in a long time. If you love Anne Tyler, you will ADORE this' Joanna Cannon 'Flatland is hailed as "the Norwegian Anne Tyler", but, for me, she writes like Flatland, which is more than good enough' Saga 'A poignant and beautifully written story ... intimate, evocative and moving' Kristin Gleeson 'Helga Flatland possesses a pen made from fluent wisdom, subtle humour and elegance' Carol Lovekin 'Absolutely loved its quiet, insightful generosity' Claire King 'So perceptive and clever' Rónán Hession 'A thoughtful and reflective novel about parents, siblings and the complex – and often challenging – ties that bind them' Hannah Beckerman, Observer 'This is a super exploration of families that I'd urge you to read for the subtle prose, with well defined characters and a strong storyline' Sheila O'Reilly 'Love the sophistication, directness and tenderness of this book' Claire Dyer 'The most clear-eyed, honest, yet sympathetic examination of relationships that I have ever read' Sara Taylor 'The author has been dubbed the Norwegian Anne Tyler and for good reason ... If you love books about dysfunctional families, you'll love this' Good Housekeeping 'In quiet prose, Helga Flatland writes with elegance and subtle humour to produce a shrewd and insightful examination of the psychology of family and of loss' Daily Express

The story of FC Barcelona, written by the author of the internationally acclaimed Hand of God: The Life of Diego Maradona and updated with a new preface 'Burns' examination of the club's fates and fortunes always goes well beyond the game itself ... Burns is a brilliant journalist ... Unmissable' Total Football 'Anyone who really wants to know Barcelona should read Burns. A cracker – part sports book, part travelogue' Daily Mirror Barça is més que un club: more than a club. It is a social and political phenomenon, successful on the football field and emblematic of the proud region of Catalonia off it. Founded in 1898, FC Barcelona is today the world's biggest football club. To unravel the background to the Barça phenomenon, Jimmy Burns has travelled with supporters, talked to people intimately linked to the club, unearthed police files and long-forgotten newspaper reports. Barça: A People's Passion is much more than a book about football – it is a story of more than a hundred years of obsessive national pride and has now been brought right up to date.

The Wonderful Randomness of the European Cup Winners' Cup is a homage to the awkward sibling of the European Champions' Cup and the UEFA Cup. All three major European club competitions had very distinct personalities, almost like three markedly different children. While the European Champions' Cup was for the high achievers and the UEFA Cup was where the cool kids often hung out, the Cup Winners' Cup threw its own uniquely eccentric shapes. The random nature of domestic cup success was what gained entry to the tournament and this brought a richer diversity of competitor than its more celebrated counterparts. A trophy which eluded the clutches of European royalty such as Real Madrid, Liverpool and Inter Milan, it remains the only European honour of both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, despite their contemporary financial advantages. The tournament which immortalised the likes of Magdeburg and Dinamo Tbilisi, it gave English football its first ever European glory. This is the story of the European Cup Winners' Cup.A A

Catalonia, located in Spain's far north-east corner and centred around the port of Barcelona, has its own cuisine and culture which has spread to encompass Valencia, the Balearic Islands (Majorca, Minorca and Ibiza), Andorra, the ancient region of France formerly known as Roussilon, and a single city on the Italian island of Sardinia. Colman Andrews explores this whole territory of Catalan cooking, from its French, Roman and Moorish roots to today's modern interpretation. Along the way he creates a portrait of the food, wine, history and culture of the region.

The volume will contribute to the excavation of the avantgarde in Barcelona, as well as its legacy in the post-war period, although its primary focus will be on the relationship between environment, identity and performance as explored by countercultural artists and communities from the 1960s to the present day.

Juana seemed to have it all. She had finally reached that important position she had been looking for in the company she was working with. And she also knew she could reach other professional goals and even fame. However, when she moved to a new city because of her job, she felt the need to "move" in more than one sense. She started traveling, getting away from it all... but, even though she had been dreaming about it during her whole life, it seemed that it was not enough nor were the relationships she would develop on the way. Her life was a constant emotional roller coaster, driven mainly by the influence of the exterior, of others, of the struggle between the "must be" and the "to be." And so, on her deep inner journey, she started realizing that what she actually needed was simply to live.

My husband and I dreamed of an early retirement in Spain. When we both suddenly lost our jobs, we decided to turn the dream into reality. Thousands of foreigners move to Spain every year. What is the feel and texture of day in, day out living for these people? We searched for books on what it was like for ordinary, middleclass foreigners to live in Spain. We found books for tourists, books on how to buy a property, how to restore an old farmhouse and finding a holiday home, We found nothing about making a permanent move. Our search for information was in vain but we blindly made the move anyway. This book is a diary of our first two years in Spain. The people are real and the events are true. The first years in a new country are always transitional years. Ours were fraught with excitement, frustration, delight, culture shock and exasperation! If you are planning a new life in Spain, I hope this book is helpful. I wish you luck and happiness on your adventure.

I cut, I just do it with a pen. I write with no identity. Just one of the many flawed humans. I should have been a bat. At least then I would be labelled out of shape. Unlike the dozens of self-portrayals full of deception. My story is badly structed and full of holes, just like the rocky boat of life. I’m poorly educated. But interested. This book is a love story. A word that is misunderstood. I do think such a thing exists, I’m just not sure it can survive. I’m going to stop selling now. It feels like I’m trying to provoke on the edge. Read my s**t because I’m uncut. Anyway, I can tell you what this book isn’t. So, when you’ve finished pretending to look educated by reading the back cover in a stifling book shop. You know what you’re not checking into. This book will never be made into a major Hollywood movie. This book isn’t written by a depressed teenager who hates the world. This book isn’t a portrayal of self-destruction. This book is not made for financial gain, but here’s hoping I can flex an around the world holiday. This book was written out of rage, but not jealous. I don’t think the world is bad. This book will only cheer you up, If your honest. Its not spiteful. But then I’d never put jellyfish in a trifle. I spit words like Kubrick plays games. Sorry I got bored. I might see you inside. If not bye darling...
