Bobby menyelesaikan Studi Perdamaian di Universitas Bradford (Inggris) dan juga merupakan alumnus dari Universitas Nasional Singapura, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Sebagai pakar di bidang ekonomi politik dan kerapuhan, konflik dan kekerasan, Bobby Anderson berpengalaman mengelola program stabilisasi, pembangunan berbasis masyarakat, reintegrasi mantan gerilyawan, mata pencaharian, dan pemberian layanan garis depan.

The book is an eyewitness account of Papua written by Bobby Anderson, an American who worked among grassroots indigenous groups in remote parts of Papua. In it he unveils the bitter fact of an almost non-existent state, and the barest of services or protections provided to a people neglected by the modern world, starting with Jakarta. Political issues, separatism, and violence are not the focus of his writing. The missing links in public services ultimately result in the denial of human security and social justice to Papuans, and this is the main focus of Bobby AndersonÕs writingÑpresented in the spirit of a common humanity, and not blaming, but rather, seeking solutions. ÐÐ Bobby Anderson is the author of ÒPapuaÕs Insecurity: State Failure in the Indonesian PeripheryÓ (East-West Center Policy Studies 73, 2015). He worked in Papua, Indonesia from 2010 until 2015; he has also worked in the Indonesian provinces of Aceh, Central Sulawesi, North Maluku, and Maluku, as well as Myanmar, Timor- Leste, Afghanistan, and the former Yugoslavia. Bobby has managed stabilization, community-driven development, ex- combatant reintegration, livelihoods, frontline service delivery, and other development projects for a variety of governments and donors; he is a graduate of the University of Bradford (UK) Department of Peace Studies, a former Rotary Peace Fellow at Chulalongkorn University, a former Lee Kuan Yew Scholar at the National University of SingaporeÕs Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and a former Research Associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Wa! it means greetings and thank you in Baliem Valley.Baliem Valley of Irian Jaya, is Indonesia's most remote province is a valley in mountainous Jayawijaya, capital town of the Jayawijaya Regency of Indonesia. It is the largest town in Indonesian Papua's highlands, situated at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level in the heart of the Cyclops Mountains surrounded by unspoiled and beautiful scenery. Temperatures can reach 10-15 degrees Celsius at night. Wamena is the only town in the valley though it is estimated that 250,000 Dani live in the region.There are three mains tribes inhabiting the Baliem Valley (Wamena). The Dani in the main valley, the Lani to the west and the Yali in the south-east. Each tribe has a distinct culture. One interesting way to distinguish between the tribes is from the Koteka. The men of each tribe tend to the growing of the gourds with the three tribes each cultivating a different style. The Dani use a long, thin Koteka, the Lani sport a medium sized, wide cannon-like gourd, and the Yali wear the longest of all.
