Streamline project workflow with expert agile implementation The Project Management Profession is beginning to go through rapid and profound transformation due to the widespread adoption of agile methodologies. Those changes are likely to dramatically change the role of project managers in many environments as we have known them and raise the bar for the entire project management profession; however, we are in the early stages of that transformation and there is a lot of confusion about the impact it has on project managers: There are many stereotypes and misconceptions that exist about both Agile and traditional plan-driven project management, Agile and traditional project management principles and practices are treated as separate and independent domains of knowledge with little or no integration between the two and sometimes seen as in conflict with each other Agile and "Waterfall" are thought of as two binary, mutually-exclusive choices and companies sometimes try to force-fit their business and projects to one of those extremes when the right solution is to fit the approach to the project It’s no wonder that many Project Managers might be confused by all of this! This book will help project managers unravel a lot of the confusion that exists; develop a totally new perspective to see Agile and traditional plan-driven project management principles and practices in a new light as complementary to each other rather than competitive; and learn to develop an adaptive approach to blend those principles and practices together in the right proportions to fit any situation. There are many books on Agile and many books on traditional project management but what’s very unique about this book is that it takes an objective approach to help you understand the strengths and weaknesses of both of those areas to see how they can work synergistically to improve project outcomes in any project. The book includes discussion topics, real world case studies, and sample enterprise-level agile frameworks that facilitate hands-on learning as well as an in-depth discussion of the principles behind both Agile and traditional plan-driven project management practices to provide a more thorough level of understanding.

Becoming A Project Leader written by Alexander Laufer and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-05 with Business & Economics categories.

This book blends academic rigor and real world experience on the agile and planning schools of project management and the process of becoming a project leader. To some, project management is all about logically and rationally planning out dependencies and mapping them out into a flawless plan; a plan that must be rigorously and undeviatingly followed in all its geometric perfection. To others it is about agility – 15 minute scrum meetings and responding on the fly to the unpredictable exigencies that the randomness of the living, breathing world throws up. In reality, smart project leaders do both. They understand that you can’t deliver a project if you make an “either/or” choice between these approaches – you must do “both/and”. These managers strive for stability and flexibility, they use formal and informal processes, and they function as managers and leaders. In Becoming A Project Leader the authors have applied their blend of intellectual rigor and hard-nosed practical experience to identify four concrete roles employed by successful project managers. The first three roles—planning, agility, and resilience—focus on coping with changes, with each role relating to a different kind of change. These three roles, which complement each other, can be implemented effectively only when they are supported by the fourth role, collaboration. Becoming an expert at understanding and delivering that blend requires constant reflection and interaction with peers – all part of the process of becoming a project leader. Based on years of experience, research and thinking and refined through 20 in-depth interviews with practicing project managers and senior executives, Becoming A Project Leader delivers the solution to all those blown budgets, shot schedules and disappointing deliverables.

When software development teams move to agile methods, experienced project managers often struggle—doubtful about the new approach and uncertain about their new roles and responsibilities. In this book, two long-time certified Project Management Professionals (PMPRs) and Scrum trainers have built a bridge to this dynamic new paradigm. They show experienced project managers how to successfully transition to agile by refocusing on facilitation and collaboration, not “command and control.” The authors begin by explaining how agile works: how it differs from traditional “plan-driven” methodologies, the benefits it promises, and the real-world results it delivers. Next, they systematically map the Project Management Institute’s classic, methodology-independent techniques and terminology to agile practices. They cover both process and project lifecycles and carefully address vital issues ranging from scope and time to cost management and stakeholder communication. Finally, drawing on their own extensive personal experience, they put a human face on your personal transition to agile--covering the emotional challenges, personal values, and key leadership traits you’ll need to succeed. Coverage includes Relating the PMBOKR Guide ideals to agile practices: similarities, overlaps, and differences Understanding the role and value of agile techniques such as iteration/release planning and retrospectives Using agile techniques to systematically and continually reduce risk Implementing quality assurance (QA) where it belongs: in analysis, design, defect prevention, and continuous improvement Learning to trust your teams and listen for their discoveries Procuring, purchasing, and contracting for software in agile, collaborative environments Avoiding the common mistakes software teams make in transitioning to agile Coordinating with project management offices and non-agile teams “Selling” agile within your teams and throughout your organization For every project manager who wants to become more agile. Project Management written by Edoardo Favari and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-25 with Business & Economics categories.

This book represents an excellent opportunity for understanding project management in its new form for professionals, undergraduate and post-graduate students, and people willing to prepare the Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP®) exam. The distinctive feature of this book consists in the approach, very pragmatic and rich in practical examples. In particular, there are several “myth” and “bad idea” boxes where common problematic scenarios that a project manager can find in its everyday working life are discussed and solved according to the book’s contents. In addition, the book includes several original explanations of some business phenomena, such as the “Leadership of the nun”, “The gardener project manager”, “The hamster”, “the change-order dragon” and others. Last but not least, it explores several concepts that aren’t included into most of project management books, such as Sustainability in triple bottom line, Management for Stakeholders and social network analysis, and an extensive part on complexity. The last part of the book is dedicated to concepts that are not properly part of project management, but are relevant for a project manager to be aware of in order to be able to interface with colleagues and partners belonging to these contiguous business worlds.

Business Analysis Requirements And Project Management written by Karl Cox and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-10-25 with Computers categories.

IT projects emerge from a business need. In practice, software developers must accomplish two big things before an IT project can begin: find out what you need to do (i.e., analyse business requirements) and plan out how to do it (i.e., project management). The biggest problem in IT projects is delivering the wrong product because IT people do not understand what business people require. This practical textbook teaches computer science students how to manage and deliver IT projects by linking business and IT requirements with project management in an incremental and straightforward approach. Business Analysis, Requirements, and Project Management: A Guide for Computing Students presents an approach to analysis management that scales the business perspective. It takes a business process view of a business proposal as a model and explains how to structure a technical problem into a recognisable pattern with problem frames. It shows how to identify core transactions and model them as use cases to create a requirements table useful to designers and coders. Linked to the analysis are three management tools: the product breakdown structure (PBS), the Gantt chart, and the Kanban board. The PBS is derived in part from the problem frame. The Gantt chart emerges from the PBS and ensures the key requirements are addressed by reference to use cases. The Kanban board is especially useful in Task Driven Development, which the text covers. This textbook consists of two interleaving parts and features a single case study. Part one addresses the business and requirements perspective. The second integrates core project management approaches and explains how both requirements and management are connected. The remainder of the book is appendices, the first of which provides solutions to the exercises presented in each chapter. The second appendix puts together much of the documentation for the case study into one place. The case study presents a real-word business scenario to expose students to professional practice.
