Today's young people stand on the brink of unprecedented opportunity and influence. The problem is, many feel misunderstood and dismissed by older generations. Frustrated, they seek answers for how they can effectively influence change in the world when the gaps between generations grow wider and our shared experiences fewer. They want to make a difference, and they remain open to influence from adults who are willing to help them learn what they'll need to succeed. With energy and unique expertise, Jonathan Catherman assures the next generation that their influence will come--with practice. Through relevant examples and clear applications, he shows youth from high school into emerging adulthood how to build bridges between generations, practice stewardship before leadership, transform raw talents into valued strengths, and live with purpose. By doing so, they can make a difference, do even better than their parents, and become the next great generation.

It's cliché to say today's adults hope the best for the next generation, yet fear the worst. As the gap between generations widens and our shared experiences dwindle, adults find it increasingly difficult to connect with and remain relevant to today's young people. So the question is, what values can we pass on that will help them to become the next great generation? And how do we communicate those values effectively? In this paradigm-shifting book, Jonathan Catherman shares with adults raised in the 1900s a fresh look at guiding 21st-century youth to become confident and capable adults. With relevant research and real-world examples, Catherman shows us the benefits of practicing and teaching four principles that will unite and empower us all: - build bridges between generations - transform raw talent into valued strengths - practice stewardship before leadership - live with purpose Whether the emerging generation knows it or not, they need you. Their greatness tomorrow begins with your guidance today.

1984 Redux written by Andrew Curtiss and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Political Science categories.
July, 2009; Andrew Curtiss received a Chain Mail in his E-Mail box. The Message was sent to him from a former colleague he served with in the US Army Special Forces at Fort Bragg North Carolina. The subject line of the message read "Congratulations you made the terrorist watch list!" The content suggested that the Department of Homeland Security had labled millions of Americans who are Constitutionalists, Pro Life, of Christian faith, voters for rightwing politics, are combat veterans and more; as potential domestic terrorists. After researching the matter Andrew found that the DHS did infact publish such a report that was meant to be confidential for law enforcement only. The report was published April 7, 2009. It was during Andrew's research into the matter that he realized the "Fundamental Transformation" of America as promised by Barrack Obama was indeed transforming America into something much like Oceania in George Orwell's "1984." 1984 Redux digs deep into the issues facing Americans today as America "Fundamentally Transforms." Curtiss draws the comparison of where Obama and his leftist handlers and drones want to take America as part of this transformation; to the extreme Socialist Oligarchy depicted in Orwell's "1984." Supported by scores of references and facts, one might be surprised to see how close to Orwell's nightmarish depiction America is headed. 1984 Redux is not only a wakeup call to America, but the world; as to what could be if the most influential nation in the world and "last hope for freedom" falls to the left.

Largely overshadowed by World War II’s “greatest generation” and the more vocal veterans of the Vietnam era, Korean War veterans remain relatively invisible in the narratives of both war and its aftermath. Yet, just as the beaches of Normandy and the jungles of Vietnam worked profound changes on conflict participants, the Korean Peninsula chipped away at the beliefs, physical and mental well-being, and fortitude of Americans completing wartime tours of duty there. Upon returning home, Korean War veterans struggled with home front attitudes toward the war, faced employment and family dilemmas, and wrestled with readjustment. Not unlike other wars, Korea proved a formative and defining influence on the men and women stationed in theater, on their loved ones, and in some measure on American culture. In the Shadow of the Greatest Generation not only gives voice to those Americans who served in the “forgotten war” but chronicles the larger personal and collective consequences of waging war the American way.

Never before in American history have we seen the number of African Americans teaching at Christian Colleges as we see today. Black Scholars in White Space highlights the recent research and scholarly contributions to various academic disciplines by some of America's history-making African American scholars working in Christian Higher Education. Many are the first African Americans or only African Americans teaching at their respective institutions. Moreover, never before have this many African American female scholars in Christian Higher Education had their research presented in a single, cross-disciplinary volume. The scholars in this book, spanning the humanities and social sciences, examine the issues in public policy, church/state relations, health care, women's issues in higher education, theological anthropology, affirmative action, and black history that need to be addressed in America as we move forward in the 21st century. For these reasons and more Black Scholars in White Space offers timely and historic contributions to the discourse about making the black community a place where men and women thrive and make contributions to the common good.

It's fashionable to mock Boomers as self-involved and materialistic, but what really is their true legacy? To understand how the Boomers have changed America, think back to the 1950s, but without the nostalgia: women were kept at home, minorities were denied their dignity, homosexuality was a crime, and anyone who marched to a different drummer was labeled un-American. Today we live in a far more open, inclusive, tolerant, and equal America. That's because Baby Boomers fought a great cultural war to free America from its prejudices, inequalities, and fears. This book tells the story of their accomplishments.--From publisher description.
