Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Linguistik, Note: 1,0, Universität zu Köln (Deutsche Sprache und Literatur), Veranstaltung: Hauptseminar, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Kritik einer handlungstheoretischen Semantiktheorie In dieser Hausarbeit sollen verschiedene Ansätze einer Bedeutungstheorie gegenübergestellt und kritisch untersucht werden. Man kann zunächst zwei grundlegende Theorieansätze in der Semantik unterscheiden: Eine „pragmatische“ bzw. „instrumentalistische“ und eine „realistische“ bzw. „repräsentationistische“ Semantikauffassung. Einen kurzen Überblick über einen realistischen Semantikansatz und die Probleme, die sich mit ihm stellen, gebe ich im ersten Kapitel. Für den realistischen Semantiker baut die „parole“ auf der „langue“ auf, nicht umgekehrt. Handlungstheoretische Bedeutungstheoretiker halten dagegen eine klare Trennung der linguistischen Disziplinen Semantik und Pragmatik für eine Verkürzung des Gegenstandsbereichs, da sie davon ausgehen, dass sprachliche Zeichen nur eine Bedeutung erlangen, wenn sie eine Funktion in einer sprachlichen Handlung übernehmen. Bedeutung ist für sie eng mit sprachlichem Handeln, mit dem Vorgang des Kommunizierens verknüpft. (...) In Kapitel 2.1. werde ich Wittgensteins Gebrauchstheorie der Bedeutung vorstellen, in Kapitel 2.2. wird es um Wittgensteins Begriff der Konvention und seinen (Anti-) Instrumentalismus gehen. Die „intentionalistischen“ Gebrauchstheoretiker räumen dagegen bei der Bedeutungsbestimmung dem „Meinen“, d.h. der Intention des Sprechers, die bedeutungskonstitutive Hauptrolle ein. Ihnen geht es also um den zweckgerichteten Gebrauch. Herbert Paul Grice gilt in der linguistischen Literatur zur Bedeutungstheorie im allgemeinen als Begründer und Hauptvertreter dieses Intentionalismus. Seine „Analyse des Meinens“ stelle ich in Kapitel 3.1. vor. Trotz seines scheinbar radikalen Intentionalismus setzt auch Grice gewisse Konventionen voraus: Seinen Konventionsbegriff schauen wir uns in Kapitel 3.2. genauer an. Besonders wurde Grice für seinen Ansatz kritisiert, die Äußerungsbedeutung oder gar die wörtliche Bedeutung allein über den kommunikativen Sinn zu bestimmen. Ziff (1967) und Searle (1969) haben das „Grice’sche Grundmodell“ mit wenigen einfachen Beispielen widerlegt, was ich in Kapitel 3.3. zeigen werde. (...) This volume is the second part of a project which hosts an interdisciplinary discussion about the relationship among law and language, legal practice and ordinary conversation, legal philosophy and the linguistics sciences. An international group of authors, from cognitive science, philosophy of language and philosophy of law question about how legal theory and pragmatics can enrich each other. In particular, the first part is devoted to the analysis of how pragmatics can solve problems related to legal theory: What can pragmatics teach about the concept of law and its relationship with moral, and, in particular, about the eternal dispute between legal positivism and legal naturalism? What can pragmatics teach about the concept of law and/or legal disagreements? The second part is focused on legal adjudication: it aims to construct a pragmatic apparatus appropriate to legal trial and/or to test the tenure of the traditional pragmatics tools in the field. The authors face questions such as: Which interesting pragmatic features emerge from legal adjudication? What pragmatic theories are better suited to account for the practice of judgment or its particular aspects (such as the testimony or the binding force of legal precedents)? Ein beträchtlicher Teil der literaturwissenschaftlichen Theoriebildung geht von der Voraussetzung aus, dass sprachliche Gebilde mehr sind als graphische Muster auf dem Papier. Man nimmt an, dass es zusätzlich zur wahrnehmbaren Gestalt des Zeichens auch noch eine Bedeutung geben müsse, die man zwar nicht mit den äußeren Sinnen, aber doch mit dem Geist erfassen kann. Dass dieses Modell des Verstehens als Bedeutungszuweisung problematisch ist, wurde häufig bemerkt, doch es ist bislang nicht ausreichend geklärt, wie die Literaturwissenschaft den Mythos der Bedeutung und den damit verbundenen Mythos der Innenwelt überwinden und zugleich den Anspruch aufrechterhalten kann, eine empirische Wissenschaft zu sein, die erkennen will, was Zeichen bedeuten, und analysiert, wie Texte beschaffen sind. Die Studie schlägt als Antwort auf diese Herausforderung eine Neufassung von Grundbegriffen wie ‚Text‘, ‚Bedeutung‘, ‚Absicht‘, ‚Interpretation‘, ‚Verstehen‘, ‚Würdigung‘ und ‚Einfühlung‘ vor. Sie skizziert eine verhaltensorientierte Philosophie der Literaturwissenschaft, derzufolge die Forschung den historisch situierten Gebrauch der Wörter untersucht und ihn unter Aufbietung des eigenen Verhaltensrepertoires verlebendigt.
