Motherhood Reimagined written by Sarah Kowalski and has been published by She Writes Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-17 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

At the age of thirty-nine, Sarah Kowalski heard her biological clock ticking, loudly. A single woman harboring a deep ambivalence about motherhood, Kowalski needed to decide once and for all: Did she want a baby or not? More importantly, with no partner on the horizon, did she want to have a baby alone? Once she revised her idea of motherhood—from an experience she would share with a partner to a journey she would embark upon alone—the answer came up a resounding Yes. After exploring her options, Kowalski chose to conceive using a sperm donor, but her plan stopped short when a doctor declared her infertile. How far would she go to make motherhood a reality? Kowalski catapulted herself into a diligent regimen of herbs, Qigong, meditation, acupuncture, and more, in a quest to improve her chances of conception. Along the way, she delved deep into spiritual healing practices, facing down demons of self-doubt and self-hatred, ultimately discovering an unconventional path to parenthood. In the end, to become a mother, Kowalski did everything she said she would never do. And she wouldn't change a thing. A story of personal triumph and unconditional love, Motherhood Reimagined reveals what happens when we release what's expected and embrace what's possible.

Motherhood And The Law written by Harry Willekens and has been published by Göttingen University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with Law in general. Comparative and uniform law. Jurisprudence categories.

Who is a child’s legal mother? Must a child have exactly one mother, can it have two or three, or can it have two fathers, but no mother? Or has the concept of motherhood become obsolete and should we just talk of parenthood in a gender neutral way? Questions such as these would have appeared esoteric only a few decades ago, but as a result of new social developments (such as frequent family reconstitutions, gay and lesbian emancipation or surrogacy) and of technological innovations (such as egg and embryo donations) they have become issues in a vehement debate. The interdisciplinary contributions to this book focus on the legal definition of motherhood, on the way in which legal conceptions structure the social discourse on motherhood (and vice versa), and on the influence of legal rules on power relations between mothers, fathers, children and the state. Among the issues addressed are - the challenges to our understanding of the legal regulation of motherhood by developments in reproductive medicine; - the challenges to our understanding of the legal regulation of motherhood by parental constellations deviating from the mother-father-model (single motherhood by choice, same-gender parenthood, multiple parenthood); - the exercise of parental rights in case of parental separation and the impact of legal rules on the bargaining positions of mothers and fathers.

The title is UK-wide, covering the law and guidance in each of the four nations. Each chapter has a uniform structure which makes it ideal for use in learning and teaching. "10 Things You Need to Know About..." introduces the key points of the topic, Setting the Scene explains where the issues occur in real life and why doctors need to understand them, and then key definitions are followed by explanations of different scenarios. Surgeons around the world need a basic knowledge of English to keep up to date with advances in their field. Fluency in surgical English is important for your professional development, enabling you to attend English-speaking patients with confidence, to study (or work) in other hospitals, speak confidently at international meetings, and to write articles for international journals. This book will provide you with the basic tools to handle day-to-day situations without stress and will help you to improve your English, no matter what your level. To our knowledge, this is the first English book written specifically by surgeons for surgeons. We are sure that surgical specialists from all over the "non-English-speaking world" (general surgeons, thoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, gynecologists, plastic surgeons) will enjoy reading it.
