She meets Mrs. Lanting, procuress for men in high government and social circles, who sells her to the rich Handarbeni. Lasi enjoys the new splendor as a much-desired ornament, but is alarmed when she discovers the marriage is a sham. Kanjat, a childhood friend, is now grown into a man. Lasi and Kanjat rediscover their affection for each other. Their bond is the village, its people and traditions. They struggle to free Lasi from a net of power, corruption, and deceit.

Lasi kembali hidup di tengah kemewahan yang datang serba mudah, namun sama sekali tak dipahaminya. Apalagi kemudian ia terseret kehidupan sang belantik kekuasaan dalam berurusan dengan penguasa-penguasa negeri. Di tengah kebingungannya itulah Lasi bertemu lagi dengan cinta lamanya di desa, Kanjat, yang kini sudah berprofesi dosen. Mereka kabur bersama, bahkan Lasi lalu menikah siri dengannya. Namun kaki-tangan Bambung berhasil menemukan mereka dan menyeret Lasi kembali ke Jakarta. Berhasilkah Kanjat membela cintanya, dan kembali merebut Lasi yang sedang mengandung buah kasih mereka?

This is an open access book. The COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years has influenced how educational system works.
