Comparative Federalism And Covid 19 written by Nico Steytler and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-10-27 with Political Science categories.

This comprehensive scholarly book on comparative federalism and the Covid-19 pandemic is written by some of the world’s leading federal scholars and national experts. The Covid-19 pandemic presented an unprecedented emergency for countries worldwide, including all those with a federal or hybrid-federal system of government, which account for more than 40 per cent of the world’s population. With case studies from 19 federal countries, this book explores the core elements of federalism that came to the fore in combatting the pandemic: the division of responsibilities (disaster management, health care, social welfare, and education), the need for centralisation, and intergovernmental relations and cooperation. As the pandemic struck federal countries at roughly the same time, it provided a unique opportunity for comparative research on the question of how the various federal systems responded. The authors adopt a multidisciplinary approach to question whether federalism has been a help or a hindrance in tackling the pandemic. The value of the book lies in understanding how the Covid-19 pandemic affected federal dynamics and how it may have changed them, as well as providing useful lessons for how to combat such pandemics in federal countries in the future. This book will be of great interest to students and scholars of politics and international relations, comparative federalism, health care, and disaster management. National Subcommissions Of Icmi And Their Role In The Reform Of Mathematics Education written by Alexander Karp and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-05-09 with Education categories.

ICMI (or IMUK) was founded in 1908 and initiated the establishment of national subcommissions to launch national activities in response to the IMUK agenda and to promote the reform proposals within each member country. While ICMI’s activities were thoroughly studied, the activities of the national subcommissions are studied only very marginally. In the meantime, their work has been of major importance – both because of their role in exploring and documenting the development of mathematics education at the beginning of the 20th century, and because of the changes and new ideas which they brought to their countries. Importantly, even if some results of their activities were analyzed within their countries in the corresponding languages, almost nothing is known internationally. This book is planned to deepen our knowledge on at least some of the national subcommissions. The book will interest both researchers and others interested in mathematics education and its development.

Authority State And National Character written by Helmut Kuzmics and has been published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Social Science categories.

A cross-disciplinary and methodologically innovative study, this volume combines historical macro-sociology and the sociology of emotions with historical anthropology and cultural studies. The authors' argument is based on an analysis of literary sources, mainly novels and plays, applying a sociology of literature approach. By employing and analyzing empirical details of individual cases and texts, the authors reach a clearer understanding of seemingly intangible and irrational aspects of national identity.

Belgium written by Bernard A. Cook and has been published by Peter Lang this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with History categories.

Although Belgium has only been an independent state since the 1830s, it has a long and complex past. This history is essential for understanding the complexities of issues that led to a devolution of the unitary Belgian state into a federation of linguistically based regions. In addition to the elements that contributed to Belgium's particular political evolution, the history which is traced in this book is a composite of many themes of broad historical interest and importance. Belgium: A History covers the gamut of Belgian history through dramas of religious and cultural conflict, intense localism, state building, uneven development, divergent class interests, war and domination, and finally, integration into a larger European community.
