Tanjung), Teater Publik (bersama Syarifuddin Arifin, Asril Koto, dan lain-lain), Teater Jenjang (Pimpinan Sjafrial Arifin) dan Teater Lentera Payakumbuh (sebagai Pimpinan dan Sutradara). Beberapa Naskah yang pernah dimainkan antara lain “Mega Mega” , “Drama Perjuangan”, “Montserrat”, “Opera Si Padang”, “Kemerdekaan”, “Cermin” dan lain-lain. Belajar menulis sejak 1983 sampai sekarang. Dulunya, lebih berminat dalam penulisan sastra dan semuanya dicemplungi. Baik Cerpen, Puisi, Esai maupun Kritik Sastra di Rubrik Remaja Minggu Ini (RMI) Haluan (antara lain Cerpen “Kemilau Batang Kuranji’, “Ayahku dan Si Koyal”, “Jendela”, “Pasung” dan sejumlah Puisi, Esai maupun Artikel), Halaman Teraju Singgalang (Cerpen, Atikel, Esai dan Catatan Kebudayaan) dan Rubrik Budaya Semangat serta Media Ibu Kota seperti Suara Karya. Saat ini lebih banyak menulis Artikel dan Esai, itu pun untuk lomba-lomba penulisan. Pernah memenangkan beberapa lomba; Juara Harapan Lomba Penulisan Cerpen Tingkat Sumatera Barat (Elpra, Padang 1989), Juara II Lomba Karya Tulis HUT Golkar (Payakumbuh, 1989), Juara III Lomba Karya Tulis Keluarga Sejahtera Nasional (Payakumbuh, 1995), Juara III Lomba Karya Tulis Kearsipan (Dinas Arsip dan Dokumentasi DKI Jakarta, 1996), Juara Harapan I Lomba Karya Tulis Keluarga Sejahtera Nasional (Sumbar, 1996), Pemenang Hiburan Lomba Penulisan Lingkungan (HAKLI Jakarta, 1997), Juara II Lomba Karya Tulis Keluarga Sejahtera Nasional (Sumbar, 1999), Pemenang Lomba Karya Tulis bertema “Gemba yang Kurasakan” Padang Ekspres Grup (2010), Juara II Lomba Penulisan Esai Pendidikan Berkarakter Tingkat Sumbar (2012). Tahun 2014, tulisan “Stasiun Kereta Api di Sumatera Barat sebagai Bangunan Cagar Budaya yang Perlu Dilestarikan” dibukukan dalam Buku Cagar Budaya di Mata Publik (Editor : Prof. Dr. Phill. Gusti Asnan dan Drs. H. Fitra Arda, M. Hum) oleh Balai Pelestarian Cagar Budaya Prov.
