This book was originally published as "Traditional Family Values 2." "Beneath the Firm Hand" by Paula Mann delves into the intricate dynamics of the Smart family, where tradition and spanking intertwine to form the bedrock of their values. Sidney Smart, a devoted father and husband, leads his household with firm yet loving guidance, firmly rooted in the belief that familial bonds are sacred. In this compelling narrative, readers are invited into the intimate world of the Smart family, where adherence to established roles and rules is paramount. Sidney presides over their four daughters, Sophie, Sally, Susan, and Sonja, and his wife Sarah, instilling in them the importance of respect, obedience, accountability, and spanking when the rules are broken. But it's not just love and laughter that fill the Smart household. Sunday gatherings after church take on a solemn tone as Sidney reads from the family's "naughty books," a testament to their commitment to upholding standards of conduct. For the Smarts, spanking and discipline are not merely formalities; they are the cornerstones of their unity. As Sophie's engagement to Owen Jones brings new alliances into the fold, the intricate web of relationships expands, revealing both the strength and fragility of familial bonds. With the Jones family adding their own dynamic to the mix, tensions simmer and secrets unravel, testing the very fabric of the Smart family's convictions. "Beneath the Firm Hand" offers a poignant exploration of tradition, authority, and the enduring power of love within the framework of one family's journey. Paula Mann's masterful storytelling weaves a tapestry of emotion and insight, leaving readers captivated until the final page. In this book, Sally is spanked by her professor at university and Owen takes part in the Sunday Spankings of the whole family. The main characters in the series are as follows: Sidney Smart 46, Sarah Smart 42, and their children Sophie 22, Sally 20, Susan, and Sonja 18. Sophie Smart will be engaged to Owen Jones, who is 24. His mother and father, Gwen and Rhys Jones, live in Swansea with his two sisters, Elin, 18, and Erin, 19. This series is more explicit than other books by Paula Mann and includes spanking, lesbian orgasms, and anal intercourse. If that is not your thing, read no further.

Decades of research have demonstrated that the parent-child dyad and the environment of the familyâ€"which includes all primary caregiversâ€"are at the foundation of children's well- being and healthy development. From birth, children are learning and rely on parents and the other caregivers in their lives to protect and care for them. The impact of parents may never be greater than during the earliest years of life, when a child's brain is rapidly developing and when nearly all of her or his experiences are created and shaped by parents and the family environment. Parents help children build and refine their knowledge and skills, charting a trajectory for their health and well-being during childhood and beyond. The experience of parenting also impacts parents themselves. For instance, parenting can enrich and give focus to parents' lives; generate stress or calm; and create any number of emotions, including feelings of happiness, sadness, fulfillment, and anger. Parenting of young children today takes place in the context of significant ongoing developments. These include: a rapidly growing body of science on early childhood, increases in funding for programs and services for families, changing demographics of the U.S. population, and greater diversity of family structure. Additionally, parenting is increasingly being shaped by technology and increased access to information about parenting. Parenting Matters identifies parenting knowledge, attitudes, and practices associated with positive developmental outcomes in children ages 0-8; universal/preventive and targeted strategies used in a variety of settings that have been effective with parents of young children and that support the identified knowledge, attitudes, and practices; and barriers to and facilitators for parents' use of practices that lead to healthy child outcomes as well as their participation in effective programs and services. This report makes recommendations directed at an array of stakeholders, for promoting the wide-scale adoption of effective programs and services for parents and on areas that warrant further research to inform policy and practice. It is meant to serve as a roadmap for the future of parenting policy, research, and practice in the United States.

The Exvangelicals written by Sarah McCammon and has been published by St. Martin's Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-19 with Social Science categories.

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER NATIONAL BESTSELLER "An intimate window into the world of American evangelicalism. Fellow exvangelicals will find McCammon’s story both startlingly familiar and immensely clarifying, while those looking in from the outside can find no better introduction to the subculture that has shaped the hopes and fears of millions of Americans." —Kristin Kobes Du Mez, New York Times bestselling author of Jesus and John Wayne The first definitive book that names the growing social movement of people leaving the church: the exvangelicals. Growing up in a deeply evangelical family in the Midwest in the ‘80s and ‘90s, Sarah McCammon was strictly taught to fear God, obey him, and not question the faith. Persistently worried that her gay grandfather would go to hell unless she could reach him, or that her Muslim friend would need to be converted, and that she, too, would go to hell if she did not believe fervently enough, McCammon was a rule-follower and—most of the time—a true believer. But through it all, she was increasingly plagued by fears and deep questions as the belief system she'd been carefully taught clashed with her expanding understanding of the outside world. After spending her early adult life striving to make sense of an unraveling worldview, by her 30s, she found herself face-to-face with it once again as she covered the Trump campaign for NPR, where she witnessed first-hand the power and influence that evangelical Christian beliefs held on the political right. Sarah also came to discover that she was not alone: she is among a rising generation of the children of evangelicalism who are growing up and fleeing the fold, who are thinking for themselves and deconstructing what feel like the “alternative facts” of their childhood. Rigorously reported and deeply personal, The Exvangelicals is the story of the people who make up this generational tipping point, including Sarah herself. Part memoir, part investigative journalism, this is the first definitive book that names and describes the post-evangelical movement: identifying its origins, telling the stories of its members, and examining its vast cultural, social, and political impact.

Family Violence in the United States takes an ecological approach to examining violence and abuse within the context of families. Easy-to-read chapters are organized by exploring the "Scope of the Problem", definitions of key terminology, predictors, and consequences of different forms of maltreatment. Attention is paid to larger social systems that can contribute to abuse, as well as community, relationship, and individual predictors of both perpetration and victimization. Additionally, there is an emphasis on both prevention and intervention of family violence at various levels of the ecological model. Authors Denise A. Hines, Kathleen Malley-Morrison, and Leila B. Dutton help students explore what family violence is and the reasons why it happens. Their approach covers contemporary and controversial topics across the lifespan, including maltreatment of male partners by women, of parents, within sexual minority relationships, and on college campuses. This 3rd edition is filled with chapter-opening cases to prompt discussion within the classroom as well as considerations of context and application in the larger community. Rich in scholarly references and case materials, it is suitable for advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals alike.
