William Allin Storrer, Ph.D., after earning an A.B. in Engineering Sciences at Harvard College where he had been publicity director for the college Gilbert & Sullivan Society and the producer for the Harvard Opera Guild, decamped to Boston University. While earning his M.F.A. in Theatre Arts, Directing, he produced plays for Olawami Ritimi of Nigeria and Göksel Kortay, now a leading personage in Turkish theatre. He also directed a play in French, and his graduate thesis was a rarely allowed original play by Harvard classmate, John Wolfson, Poison Ivy, a look at drugs on Ivy campuses. His Ph.D. dissertation compared Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? as drama and film, opening his world to the differences in the two media. Here he shares his insights into Albee's world. Having directed the play, his unique insights that go well beyond what New York and later London critics have offered about the play, he reveals a view that is comprehensive and finally explains both the title and the location of the play as significant elements in understanding Albee's first full-length masterpiece.

During the nine years that the Conservatives under Brian Mulroney held power in Ottawa, Canadian foreign policy underwent a series of important departures from established policy. Some of these changes mirrored the major transformations in global politics that occurred during this period as the Berlin Wall was breached, the Cold War came to an end, and a globalized economy emerged. But some of the changes were the results of initiatives taken by the Conservative government. The first major scholarly examination of the foreign policy of this period, this collection explores and analyzes the many departures from traditional Canadian statecraft that took place during the Mulroney Conservative era: free trade with the U.S., a continentalized energy policy, initiatives over the environment and the Arctic, the withdrawal of Canadian forces from Europe, and the transformation of peacekeeping into peacemaking.

Similar But Different written by Janusz Czebreszuk and has been published by Sidestone Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-01 with Antiques & Collectibles categories.

The book “Similar but Different. Bell Beakers in Europe” deals with a cultural phenomenon, known as the Bell Beaker culture, that during the 3rd millennium B.C. was present throughout Western and Central Europe. This development played an important role in the formation of the Bronze Age at the turn of the 3rd and the 2nd millennium BC. This book consists of 10 chapters – in each a specific issue is discussed connected with Bell Beakers. The chapters are divided into three parts concerning consecutively: general problems, issues of the so-called common ware and the character of the Bell Beakers in particular places in Europe. The reader can become acquainted with interpretations of the whole phenomenon, based on inter-regional similarities – the works of H. Case, M. Vander Linden, L. Salanova, and R. Furestier. The second part consist of the chapters by Ch. Strahm, M. Besse and V. Leonini that focus on the matter of the so-called common ware: some ceramic vessels, which are not part of the ‘beaker set’, but accompany it in many regions. That is one of the Bell Beakers’ analytical problems, which is still argued about. The three last chapters show the specific features of some regional centers, where Bell Beakers developed, the attention was focused on the Bell Beakers’ localities’. These are the works of A Gibson (Britain), O. Lemercier (Mediterranean France) and L. Sarti (central Italy). The book shows the basic features of the Bell Beaker culture in Europe. These however are still a challenge for researchers, because the phenomenon had two faces. On the one hand it is characterized by a set of material culture which is occurring in many places Western and Central Europe. On the other hand, in specific areas, these features were relatively easily influenced by the local environment, they got some sort of regional particularities. That is the essence of the Bell Beakers, hence the title of this book: ‘similar but different’. This book is a reprint, the first edition was published in 2004 by the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań.
