Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Berufsbildung, Weiterbildung, Note: 1,3, Universität Trier, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Aus dem Trend der deutschen Wirtschaft zur Spezialisierung auf hochwertige Güter und Dienstleistungen resultieren veränderte Anforderungen an die Qualifikation der Beschäftigten, wodurch die Arbeitskräftenachfrage in Richtung einer Höherqualifizierung tendiert (vgl. Kalina 2005, S.15). Demzufolge verlieren die typischen Arbeitsplätze für Menschen ohne Berufsabschluss, also Tätigkeiten mit geringen Qualifikationsanforderungen konträr zu den qualifizierten Beschäftigungen zunehmend an Bedeutung und werden infolgedessen immer mehr abgebaut (vgl. ebd.). Angesichts dieses wirtschaftlichen Umbruchs stehen die Menschen mit geringer Qualifikation vor einer Beschäftigungsmisere (vgl. Reinberg 2003, S.13). Aber wie können die sog. „Modernisierungsverlierer“ jene erfolgreich bewältigen (ebd.)? Der Grundtenor des beherrschenden Diskurses lautet, dass dem lebenslangen Lernen und der beruflichen Weiterbildung in der „Wissens- und Dienstleistungsgesellschaft“ eine Schlüsselfunktion bei der Förderung von Beschäftigungsfähigkeit, Chancengleichheit sowie der Verbesserung der Integrationschancen zukommt (vgl. Dehnbostel 2008, S. 9). Demnach wird den Geringqualifizierten aufgrund der kompensatorischen Funktion der Weiterbildung die Möglichkeit eingeräumt versäumte Bildungsmöglichkeiten nachzuholen und somit einen Zugang zu existenzsichernder Arbeit und sozialer Teilhabe in der Gesellschaft zu erhalten (vgl. Filla 2011, S. 102). Aber wird diese ‚zweite Bildungsphase’ als Chance im Sinne einer Verbesserung der wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Lage der Menschen ohne beruflichen Abschluss überhaupt wahrgenommen (Rosenbladt/ Bilger 2011, S. 206)? Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt in Frage, dass diese Option von gering qualifizierten Menschen im umfangenden Maß genutzt wird und stellt demgegenüber die These auf, dass es derzeit zu viele Barrieren bzw. Grenzen gibt, die eine Weiterbildungsteilnahme der Geringqualifizierten weitestgehend verhindern. Zunächst erfolgt eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Begriff „ gering qualifiziert“, um eine definitorische Klarheit über den Untersuchungsgegenstand zu bekommen. Hierbei werden auch die Kennzeichen der Gruppe von Menschen mit formal niedriger Qualifikation eruiert.[...]

A decade after the Bologna Declaration has called for the establishment of a cycle system of study programmes and degrees all over Europe the changes actually having occurred in this reform process can be measured and assessed. To what extent did the bachelor students gained international experiences during or after their study program? What is the proportion of bachelor degree holders who are employed about one year after graduation? What are the labor market experiences of those bachelor graduates who started to work? Was it difficult to gain relevant employment? What are the employment conditions for bachelor graduates in terms of income, position, working time, unlimited term contracts compared to traditional graduates? To what extent are bachelor graduates working in areas with close relation to their field of study (horizontal match)? Is their level of education needed for their work tasks (vertical match)? These are the key questions which will be answered in this volume based on surveys of graduates from institutions of higher education recently undertaken in ten European countries (Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, and United Kingdom). The bachelor-master-structure actually implemented varies substantially between the countries and also the consequences of these reforms differ strikingly. In some countries, more students spend a period of study abroad than the goal set for the year 2020 in the Bologna Process; in other countries, not yet a quarter of the expected rate is achieved. Also the frequency of bachelor graduates differs by country who opt for further study, transfer to employment or are both employed and students. The comparative study also provides a wealth of information about the employment and work situation of bachelor graduates as compared to other graduates from institutions of higher education. The book provides relevant information for students and teaching staff at institutions of higher education, employers and politicians and administrative staff dealing with higher education issues.

Service-oriented computing has recently gained extensive momentum in both industry and academia, and major software vendors hook on to the service paradigm and tailor their software systems towards services in order to accommodate ever-changing process and product requirements in today’s dynamic market environments. While dynamic binding of services at runtime was identified as a core functionality of service-based environments as far back as 2000, its industrial-strength implementation has yet to be achieved. The main reason for this is the lack of rich service specifications, concepts, and tools to process them. This book introduces advanced concepts in service provisioning and service engineering, including semantic concepts, dynamic discovery and composition, and illustrates them in a concrete business use case scenario. To prove the validity of the concepts and technologies, a semantic service provisioning reference architecture framework as well as a prototypical implementation of its subsystems and a prototypical realization of a proper business scenario are presented. Thus the book goes way beyond current service-based software technologies by providing a coherent and consistent set of technologies and systems functionality that realizes advanced concepts in service provisioning. Both the use case scenario and the provisioning platform have already been substantiated and implemented by the EU-funded Adaptive Services Grid project. What does higher education offer to make students competent actors in the world of work and other life spheres? This issue is most controversially debated in economically advanced countries since about four decades when higher education in economically advanced countries began to serve larger ranges of the occupational pyramid than merely the intellectually and professionally chosen few. The author of this volume analyzes a broad range of issues over four decades of his academic career. Employers’ and graduate surveys, secondary analyses of education and employment statistics as well as analyses of policy and academic debates form the basis of the key argument: Neither trust in expectations formulated by employers or in income and status as measures of successful study nor isolated claims for the pursuit of academic knowledge for its own sake and for the critical functions of higher education are a suitable reference frame for understanding the dynamic links between higher education and the world of work. A “match” between the number of graduates and the corresponding positions or between the competences acquired during study and job requirements cannot be expected. Students are more ambitious and strive for a broader range of goals than they can expect to be rewarded. Graduates have to be both highly qualified experts and sceptics as far as conventional wisdom is concerned, and they have to be prepared for indeterminate tasks. Key themes of this collection of essays are: the causes and consequences of an imperfect “match” between higher education and employment; the tensions between “employment” and “work” orientation in higher education; opportunities of a “highly educated society”; the dynamics of the variety of students, the patterns of the higher education system and the horizontal and vertical diversity of careers; different notions of higher education and the world of work among economically advanced countries; major controversial notions of professional relevance of study in policy and research debates.
