Hi-tech, environmental compatibility and good design are no longer a contradiction in terms. In fact, they can complement one another splendidly. Business with nature and the number of "Eco lodges" on offer is huge. Often this type of accommodation is lacking in style. And yet, particularly travel in harmony with nature should be something that appeals to all our senses. The new book "best designed ecological hotels" shows how elegance, architecture and nature can be perfectly combined. It presents outstanding hotel architecture from its best side in the world's most fascinating locations. From a luxury complex on an isolated island to a clay resort in the desert to a bush lodge with eye contact with wild animals.

For a long time, a stay in a well-designed hotel was a costly business. Architectural treats tended to be restricted to the luxury category. In recent years, however, some of these hotels have adjusted to meet the needs of a younger generation of travelers. The rooms are no longer ridiculously expensive, but still by no means cheap. The new book "best designed affordable hotels" has been published in response to the frequent request for an overview of reasonably priced design hotels. Illustrated with brilliant colour photos, the team of authors has put together the first global collection of first-class hotel architecture and fantastic residences with affordable room rates.

Eco-Resorts is a design guide for low impact, environmentally friendly tourist resorts in the tropics. The book is the first to offer architects practical, detailed guidance in developing resort buildings that work with a tropical climate and meet the needs and expectations of the client and building inhabitants. The book includes both architectural design and material solutions, supported by theoretical principles, to present a sustainable approach to resort design. It demonstrates that tropical resort buildings do not necessarily require large energy input, in compliance with green building standards. Case studies show how principles of sustainable design have been successfully applied in tropical environments. * Written by an industry insider with practical design experience, knowledge and expertise. * Demonstrates design practices related to site planning and layout, and re-assesses best practices for a tropical environment, allowing architects to apply design principles to their own projects. * Includes international case studies from several countries to illustrate best practice from a variety of tropical climate destinations around the world. Z (Zbigniew) Bromberek, PhD, is an architect educated and registered in Poland, and postgraduate-educated and residing in Australia. Z has been practising and teaching architecture for nearly 30 years. He has been involved and associated with various educational institutions and professional organizations in a number of countries around the world. Sustainable Tourism Futures written by Stefan Gössling and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-01-13 with Business & Economics categories.

A global industry and an important tool for economic development, international tourism is facing an increasingly uncertain future. Global environmental change, including climate change; increasing fuel prices; and growing criticism from environmental and social interest groups are posing substantial challenges to the belief that international tourism can be sustainable at current rates and patterns of growth. This book therefore aims to answer the questions of if and how tourism can be a sustainable industry. The book concludes that sustainable tourism is possible but that it requires fundamental shifts in operations, systems and philosophies. The various contributions identify a number of means by which this can be accomplished but stress that sustainable tourism still has a long way to travel before it can reach its destination.
