From one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century, the author of The Trial: Three stories he published in his lifetime, including his best-known tale, “The Metamorphosis.” I have only one request," Kafka wrote to his publisher Kurt Wolff in 1913. "'The Stoker,' 'The Metamorphosis,' and 'The Judgment' belong together, both inwardly and outwardly. There is an obvious connection among the three, and, even more important, a secret one, for which reason I would be reluctant to forego the chance of having them published together in a book, which might be called The Sons."

This edition contains the English translation and the original text in German. "The Trial" (original German title: "Der Process", later "Der Prozess", "Der Proceß" and "Der Prozeß") is a novel written by Franz Kafka in 1914 and 1915 but not published until 1925. One of Kafka's best-known works, it tells the story of a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed neither to him nor the reader. Like Kafka's other novels, "The Trial" was never completed, although it does include a chapter which brings the story to an end. Because of this, there are some inconsistencies and discontinuities in narration within the novel, such as disparities in timing. After Kafka's death in 1924 his friend and literary executor Max Brod edited the text for publication by Verlag Die Schmiede. The original manuscript is held at the Museum of Modern Literature, Marbach am Neckar, Germany. In 1999, the book was listed in "Le Monde"'s 100 Books of the Century and as No. 2 of the Best German Novels of the Twentieth Century. "Der Process" (auch "Der Prozeß" oder "Der Proceß", Titel der Erstausgabe: "Der Prozess") ist neben "Der Verschollene" (auch unter dem Titel "Amerika" bekannt) und "Das Schloss" einer von drei unvollendeten und postum erschienenen Romanen von Franz Kafka.

New translation of The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. Poor Gregor Samsa! This guy wakes up one morning to discover that he's become a "monstrous vermin". The first pages of The Metamorphosis where Gregor tries to communicate through the bedroom door with his family, who think he’s merely being lazy, is vintage screwball comedy. Indeed, scholars and readers alike have delighted in Kafka’s gallows humor and matter-of-fact handling of the absurd and the terrifying. But it is one of the most enigmatic stories of all time, with an opening sentence that’s unparalleled in all of literature.

Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical; don't edit your soul according to fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly. - Franz Kafka. Franz Kafka wrote, I am free that is why I'm lost. Assume, you wake up and the entire world is against you. You want to follow yourself but the people are dominant on you to do what they want. We don't feel chains until we move. Franz Kafka was not a body to be defined but a soul and heart to be felt. When you zoom out on his life, you will find only a miserable life and a soul that was stubborn to his writings and events and nothing else, and you may feel he was perpetually afraid of social life, friends and even his own marriage and resulting, Kafka never married his entire life and had no children. He was a personality who blamed himself more than other people. Even his own father Hermann Kafka was against his writing profession and in that dominance, he carried out that long exhausting job of an insurance clerk for too long, examining dead bodies and even after he created enough time for writing and crafted the eternal masterpieces like The Trail and Metamorphosis even though he told his literary editor and best friend Max Brod to burn all his scripts unread after his death but fortunately he didn't. Kafkaesque; the surrealism of Kafka is widely popular in the entire world. It’s a state of strange, confusing, oppressing and nightmarish situation like what Kafka felt in his entire life. His novels are a depiction of surrealism and his state represents where people feel powerless against big & impersonal forces. When people see Kafka as a human, we see him as a heart and soul. He tried to transform his entire soul into the expression of changing the entire world. As he was unable to transform the world around him, he chose to change something inside his soul that eternally transformed him. The Deep Heart of Franz Kafka Book focuses on how Kafka saw his world and lived a strange yet deep love even being unloved. I need solitude for my writing; not 'like a hermit' - that wouldn't be enough but like a dead man. - Franz Kafka.

DR. Samir Kumar Hui holds an MA in English literature and has his PhD degree from a reputed University. Presently he is serving as a reader in English at Dhamnagar Degree College in Odisha. He is an academician by vocation and a passionate poet by avocation. He has written several books both academic and non-academic. This academic book Literary Theories And Movements In English aims to introduce the reader to the diverse and evolving landscape of literary movements and theories in English, offering a glimpse into the fundamental shifts in thought that have shaped literature as we know it today. From the formal structure and high ideals of the Renaissance to the subversive creativity of Modernism, literary movements have reflected the changing tides of history, art, and human experience. These movements, whether driven by political revolutions, technological advancements, or philosophical explorations, have given rise to new styles, genres, and methods of writing that defy traditional norms and push boundaries. At the heart of these movements lies the evolution of literary theory, a framework that seeks to explain and analyse texts, their meanings and the reader’s role in interpreting them. Literary theory encompasses a wide range of approaches — be it Formalism, which emphasizes close reading and structural analysis; Marxist theory, which explores class and societal forces; or Feminist theory, which addresses issues of gender and representation. It is hoped that the book will be useful not only for the student community but also for all those who wish to acquire command over English literature.
