I originally began creating childrens stories when I was a child myself. After I had grown up and was on a camping trip with three young children, they asked me to tell them a story. That gave rise to this book. The first five stories in this collection were written for children and with the interaction and help of children. The children suggested characters, places, and other elements that added to the completion of these stories. It is my hope that a lot of sleepyheads will enjoy them. The other six stories were written later. They are targeted for young adults and are, for the most part, adaptations of my unpublished screenplays. These I wrote while studying filmmaking in college. All the stories in this book were meant to be enjoyed and, maybe, give the readers a chuckle or two, some fun and exciting reading!

Halving It All written by Francine Deutsch and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000-04-07 with Psychology categories.

The best way to have it all--both a full family life and a career--is to halve it all. That's the message of Francine Deutsch's refreshing and humane book, based on extensive interviews with a wide range of couples. Deutsch casts a skeptical eye on the grim story of inequality that has been told since women found themselves working a second shift at home. She brings good news: equality based on shared parenting is possible, and it is emerging all around us. Some white-collar fathers achieve as well as talk about equality, and some blue-collar parents work alternate shifts to ensure that one parent can always be with the children. Using vivid quotations from her interviews, Deutsch tells the story of couples who share parenting equally, and some who don't. The differences between the groups are not in politics, education, or class, but in the way they negotiate the large and small issues--from whose paid job is "important" to who applies the sunscreen. With the majority of mothers in the workforce, parents today have to find ways of sharing the work at home. Rigid ideas of "good mothers" and "good fathers," Deutsch argues, can be transformed into a more flexible reality: the good parent. Halving It All takes the discussion beyond shrill ideological arguments about working mothers and absent fathers. Deutsch shows how, with the best of intentions, people perpetuate inequalities and injustices on the home front, but also, and more important, how they can devise more equal arrangements, out of explicit principles, or simply out of fairness and love.

Author Dick Benack intermeshes historic biblical personalities with modern social leaders in fourteen short stories with captivating snap endings. ---------- Prism, Arel and Me is a Monsignor’s reluctant revelation of how a strange meeting in Bethlehem resulted in changes to Diocesan Parish Christmas celebrations on Long Island. Beth portrays the final two days of a young’s Nun’s departure to meet the Man she loves. Father Bernard’s Hummers were a band of teenage Brooklyn girls led into maturity by a studious priest who introduced them to a world they didn’t know. Upside, Downside is a tale of love woven by a young expatriate German bank executive frustrated when his promise to his wife is ending on a New York-bound commuter train. Jeremy Witcomb and the Jefferson Mortgage weaves a ladder of learning to a suburbanite professional who crosses ethnic lines he always avoided. A lady with Style reveals the truism that growing old does not come easy and growing old with no recourses can be terminal. Who is the Priest? Too many years in Diocesan Chancery assignments can lock priestly minds until a fresh approach to service of people is revealed in the words of youth. Abram was his Name introduces the most worldly-renowned youth whose historic contribution to Christian history is told everywhere. Seventeen Miles to Jericho is known as “The Road of Blood” and a daring local resident explains why to a passerby who might remember. Father Blimp’s Affair is one recipient’s testimony to long forgotten contributions made by an elderly priest and forgotten in current exultation by current youth. Is Goodnight Enough? A doctor, called after midnight to confirm the death of his strong-willed parent, must choose between lifetime feelings before daybreak. The Roman Outpost at Cana and events occurring there are thought to be found in a little known shop of trivia in Rome and some scribblings are thought to confirm events there. One Sparrow, One Hawk portrays loving disparity between a Brooklyn boy and a suburban estate girl, both attorneys in Manhattan, and a lifetime of envious competition. Monsignor Commissioner, Pastor Hildreth, a community leader in upscale Mulberry Downs, knows from the first words on his incoming mobile phone whether he is about to adjudicate a religious, political or criminal event. Four years later, in that very stadium, the New Orleans Saints won the NFC championship and earned their first-ever trip to the Super Bowl, where they defeated the favored Indianapolis Colts 31-17. This is the inspirational true story of a city recovering from disaster and a team with a history of heartbreak, as seen through the eyes of the coach who would help elevate them both to long- forgotten greatness.

This book is not a memoir but a compilation of actual journals that the author kept as her children were born and growing from infants to young adults. It captures the funny sayings of young children we all wish we had written down at the time. It also captures the very real problems of parenting, sibling rivalries, and settling into new neighborhoods. The author writes with her heart and records the ordinary moments so they wont be forgotten. She also writes with a very young voice, and we see her mature along with her children over the fifteen years that this book encompasses.
