Antike Historiographie von Herodot bis Ammian, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der vorliegende Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit dem griechischen Geschichtsschreiber Thukydides von Athen und seinem Werk über den „Krieg zwischen den Peloponnesiern und Athenern“. Das Hauptaugenmerk liegt auf der Interpretation der Monographie hinsichtlich der thukydideischen Geschichtsauffassung. Die historische Denkweise des Thukydides fand in den bisherigen Analysen nur geringe Beachtung. Dies liegt wohl an den Schwierigkeiten, eine solch tief zwischen den Zeilen verborgene und dazu noch antike Empfindung von Vergangenheit zu analysieren. Es ist folglich durchaus Raum für neue Auslegungen des Stoffes vorhanden. Dabei wird sowohl die soziale Herkunft, Geisteshaltung und Arbeitsweise des Thukydides, als auch der Kontext, das Thema und die Intention seines Werkes dargestellt. Durch eine Einordnung in die griechische Geschichtsschreibung werden auch Besonderheiten und Unterschiede im Vergleich zu anderen bekannten antiken Historiographen, speziell zu Herodot, deutlich.
