Years ago whole societies painted their histories which may take archaeologists and scholars countless hours to decipher, if they can even accomplish this marvelous feat. Soon the people began to use a new system, stories and spoken words. Their histories still exist, without miss-interpretations or incorrect translation. The stories themselves are immortal, but the author is only said to be but an elder who may or may not be remembered based on his greatness. Through my poetry I try to the best of my ability to express an emotion the way I am experiencing it right at that moment. Through the beauty of poetry if my works were read 100 years, from that emotion could be relived by anyone whoâs reading it. So the picture that my thousand words paint, wouldnât become yellowed by time, loose its glossy coat, or its fresh scent but exist brand new each time and become eternal. Through my gift I have attained immortality, as much as I can, as a human being.

And when we do, we discover a moment full of love, a feast of insight and a new consciousness for the neighbour and the pansy. What are the “how to’s” for living well with joyful purpose? What sparks our spirituality? And what will bring us home before the sun goes down? This collection of writings is about taking the dare and winking back.

Daily Reflections provides a practical roadmap for weaving self-reflection, gratitude, and mindfulness into your daily routine, transforming ordinary moments into opportunities for personal growth and enhanced mental clarity. The book argues that incorporating these practices isn't just a beneficial activity, but an essential component of sustainable personal development. Emphasizing the interconnectedness of these three core areas, it draws from ancient philosophical traditions and modern psychological research, including positive psychology's validation of gratitude's impact on mental health and neuroscience's support for mindfulness as a tool for improving attention. The book stands out by offering a systematic and actionable approach to integrating these practices, moving beyond isolated discussions to provide a structured plan for implementation. The initial chapters define core concepts and explore practical techniques like journaling prompts and mindfulness meditations. The book then progresses to demonstrate implementation in morning, mid-day, and evening routines. The ultimate goal is to help readers apply self-reflection in decision-making, use gratitude to build stronger relationships, and employ mindfulness to enhance focus and creativity, providing tools for navigating daily challenges.

Self-reflection is fundamental for human thinking on many levels. Philosophy has described the mind's capacity to observe itself as a core element of human existence. Political and social sciences have shown how modern democracies depend on society's ability to critically reflect on their own values and practices. And literature of all ages has proven self-reflexivity to be a crucial trait of cultural production. This volume provides the first diachronic panorama of genres, forms, and functions of literary self-reflection and their connections with social, political and philosophical discourses from the 17th century to the present. Far beyond the usual focus on postmodernist opacity, these contributions present a rich tradition of critical transparency: Literary texts that show us what is behind and beyond them.

As the title suggests, the stories and poems included in this work express the inner feelings of an older, retired gentleman as he describes the experiences in his life from his earliest memory. Some are humorous, emotional, patriotic, and inspiring as he shares his thoughts with others who have had similar events. They are intended to bring out the same feelings that his readers have known and to alert younger readers about the adventures that may lie ahead for them.

Reflections Of A Metaphysical Flaneur written by Raymond Tallis and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-09-11 with Philosophy categories.
These essays from one of our most stimulating thinkers showcase Tallis's infectious fascination, indeed intoxication, with the infinite complexity of human lives and the human condition. In the title essay, we join Tallis on a stroll around his local park - and the intricate passages of his own consciousness - as he uses the motif of the walk, the amble, to occasion a series of meditations on the freedoms that only human beings possess. In subsequent essays, the flaneur thinks about his brain, his relationship to the rest of the animal kingdom, his profession of medicine and about the physical world and the claims of physical science to have rendered philosophical reflection obsolete. Taken together the essays continue Tallis's mission to elaborate a vision of humanity that rejects religious myths while not succumbing to scientism or any other form of naturalism. Written with the author's customary intellectual energy and vigour these essays provoke, move and challenge us to think differently about who we are and our place in the material world.

LEARN TO SEE WHAT’S HIDDEN RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. IT’S SEEING WHAT’S HIDDEN THAT MAKES THE VIEW EXTRAORDINARY. NAIKAN is a Japanese word that means “inside looking”” or ““introspection””. A more poetic translation is ““seeing oneself with the mind’’s eye””. Drawing on Eastern spiritual and psychological traditions, Naikan is a unique method of self--reflection for cultivating self--awareness, gratitude, empathy, and a path for moving forward in our lives. Through Naikan we develop a natural and profound sense of gratitude for blessings bestowed on us by others, blessings that were always there but went unnoticed. This is the 20th anniversary edition of this influential book. Author Gregg Krech, now after more than 30 years of teaching Naikan, shares the depth of his experience with essays, parables, poems, quotations, and recommended reflection exercises. The edition includes new material on relationships, a seven-day practice program, and guidelines to help mental-health professionals apply a Naikan perspective to counseling and therapy.
