Beyond Moral Judgment written by Alice Crary and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-09-30 with Philosophy categories.

What is moral thought and what kinds of demands does it impose? Alice Crary's book Beyond Moral Judgment claims that even the most perceptive contemporary answers to these questions offer no more than partial illumination, owing to an overly narrow focus on judgments that apply moral concepts (for example, "good," "wrong," "selfish," "courageous") and a corresponding failure to register that moral thinking includes more than such judgments. Drawing on what she describes as widely misinterpreted lines of thought in the writings of Wittgenstein and J. L. Austin, Crary argues that language is an inherently moral acquisition and that any stretch of thought, without regard to whether it uses moral concepts, may express the moral outlook encoded in a person's modes of speech. She challenges us to overcome our fixation on moral judgments and direct attention to responses that animate all our individual linguistic habits. Her argument incorporates insights from McDowell, Wiggins, Diamond, Cavell, and Murdoch and integrates a rich set of examples from feminist theory as well as from literature, including works by Jane Austen, E. M. Forster, Tolstoy, Henry James, and Theodor Fontane. The result is a powerful case for transforming our understanding of the difficulty of moral reflection and of the scope of our ethical concerns.

Stepping Beyond Judgment written by Lynn Bunch and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-01-21 with categories.

Stepping Beyond Judgment is an intimate memoir of how to peacefully overcome the intense struggles in our lives. Through her unique and often tumultuous stories, Lynn M. Bunch, Intuitive Educator, takes the reader through the necessary steps to live a life devoid of pain, struggle and fear, in order to enjoy the peace and bliss every human desires and deserves. The events in Lynn's story are entirely true, with no embellishments, but the solutions are so rational, cogent, and spiritual, that they may shock readers when compared to the ineffective, "normal" solutions most flailing humans turn to when experiencing trauma and crisis. This book is an easy to read and even easier to grasp "how to manual" for anyone wishing to avoid anguish and experience joy.Stepping Beyond Judgment will not change your life; it will do the opposite: it will revert your model for decision making and behavior in order to grasp how to best guide yourself , spiritually and physically, by explaining the often neglected innate human skill of intuition, a skill that Lynn has spent a lifetime exploring, mastering, and teaching in order to help as many people as possible in navigating their unique experiences, from the mundane to the mercurial. Stepping Beyond Judgment is not a didactic, boring, or condescending self-help book; it is a fascinating, brutally honest autobiography that teaches by example, and never leaves the reader feeling bored, manipulated, hoodwinked, or betrayed.

This is an expanded version of my original novel - 27th. I added more details and spruced up the story to make it a more complete read : In the 22nd century, humans had attained immortality. They abandoned their mortal biological shells to live out their lives in the virtual world while the world outside disintegrated and became uninhabitable. By the end of the 21st century, human activities had taken its toll on mother earth and resulted in irreversible damages. There was an imminent threat to the continuity of the human race. In an effort to save humanity from extinction, scientists from all over the world were under tremendously urgency at spearheading unprecedented methods to ensure that the human race survive beyond the next century. Out of the many proposals, two distinct camps took shape. One group of scientists decided to create a new genetically altered human being. Another group of scientists decided to turn the human race into digital data. The first group built an underground city for their genetically engineered humans while the earth above heals, a process they predicted would take eight hundred years. The second group built a cyber-city for their digital counterparts so that these immortals could continue to manifest their intelligence until the day when they could be resurrected. This story spans five centuries, from the time humans started saving themselves from extinction in the 22nd century, to the 27th century when the dust had settled. Three civilizations remained: the Hominins who can produce their own food; the virtual citizens of CyberCity; and the surviving descendants of the original humans who had managed to survive. The problem is which civilization should be resurrected and allowed to continue on with the legacy of what their ancestors left behind in the 22nd century.

Beyond Rationality written by Kenneth R. Hammond and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-01-04 with Education categories.

With Beyond Rationality, Kenneth R. Hammond, one of the most respected and experienced experts in judgment and decision-making, sums up his life's work and persuasively argues that decisions should be based on balance and pragmatism rather than rigid ideologies.Hammond has long focused on the dichotomy between theories of correspondence, whereby arguments correspond with reality, and coherence, whereby arguments strive to be internally consistent. He has persistently proposed a middle approach that draws from both of these modes of thought and so avoids the blunders of either extreme. In this volume, Hammond shows how particular ways of thinking that are common in the political process have led to the mistaken judgments that created our current political crisis. He illustrates this argument by analyzing penetrating case studies emphasizing the political consequences that arise when decision makers consciously or unconsciously ignore their adversaries' particular mode of thought. These analyses range from why Kennedy and Khruschev misunderstood each other to why Colin Powell erred in his judgments over the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. For anyone concerned about the current state of politics in the U.S. and where it will lead us, Beyond Rationality is required reading.
