Like many dog owners, I aspired to own a bomb-proof dog but didn’t know why dogs behave as they do or how to resolve behaviour issues. For instance, why do they disobey, jump up, bark, dig, chew inappropriate things, steal the roast joint, and rearrange the household rubbish or become fearful and aggressive?

Touch written by Agnes Catherine Poirier and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-09-18 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Why France and Britain are so different, and why they do things in opposite ways. A brilliant and vigorous observer of both French and British societies, which she knows intimately, 32-year-old Agnes Catherine Poirier has spent the last ten years explaining the peculiarities of France to the British and of Britain to the French. Not an easy job. Having studied both in Paris and London, writing in both languages for the French and British press, Agnes Catherine Poirier plays with national stereotypes, which are both stupid and dangerous, with dexterity and savoir faire. She goes beneath the surface to explain why France and Britain keep arguing and competing endlessly, why they are so different and why they do things in almost opposite ways. Covering the worlds of art, politics, action, food, institutions, sex, history, media, society and philosophy, she tells us as much about us as why France is a nation apart. Revenge for tabloid attacks on France or for British expats' invasions of Brittany and the Dordogne? You decide. But this will entertain and educate all readers about their own country and whether its 'entente' with La Belle France is 'cordiale' or not. You may disagree with her but you may never see yourself in the same way again.

INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER From William Hanson, the beloved social media star and etiquette authority, comes the quintessential guide to courtesy, charm, grace, and decorum. Don’t worry, William Hanson—“Emily Post for the TikTok generation” (Vanity Fair)—is here to make us practically perfect in every way. In the “funny and unapologetic” (Robert Hardman, author of Charles III) Just Good Manners, he shares his definitive advice on how to behave in every situation, from a night dining out with friends to Netflix at home, as well as celebrates the deep kindness, empathy, and joy that come with good manners. As Hanson makes clear, to care for others is truly about caring and respecting oneself. With the perfect dose of Hanson’s inimitable dry humor, Just Good Manners is “a must for anyone who aspires to polish up their manners” (Anne Glenconner, New York Times bestselling author).

Moving beyond existing approaches that largely deal with the biophysical consequences of climate change realities in Africa, this book explores an alternative perspective that traces climate change as a travelling idea. It focuses on how globally constructed discourses on climate change find their way to the local level in the Bamenda Grassfields of Cameroon, thereby seeking to understand how these discursive practices lead to social transformations, and to new configurations of power. In the translation process from the 'global' to the 'local' level a continuous modification and appropriation of the idea of climate change takes place that finally leads to a concrete implementation of climate change related projects and sensitization campaigns. Hence, it is argued that in this increasingly interconnected and mediated world people in Africa (and elsewhere in the world) do not solely adapt to a changing climate, but also adapt to a changing discourse about the climate. Travelling between traditional rulers and their palaces, to the world of NGOs, journalists and ordinary farmers this study brings the reader on a captivating journey, that reveals how climate change engages in a variety of ways with different lifeworlds, revitalizes local cosmologies, gives birth to a new development paradigm, and moreover how it evokes apocalyptic anxieties and trajectories of blame at the grassroots level.
