Die Arbeit bespricht zunächst die Rolle von Kunst und Kreativität in der Forschung und Wissenschaft und gibt eine kurze Übersicht zur Entwicklung des Verhältnisses dieser beiden Bereiche. Anschließend wird auf das zentrale Thema dieser Arbeit eingegangen: Arts Based Research. Die Ausarbeitungen zu der Thematik Arts Based Research stützen sich vor allem auf die Literatur von Tom Barone und Elliot Eisner. Auch das Konzept der Transdisziplinarität wird in diesem Zusammenhang näher beleuchtet. Als eigene Ergänzung möchte ich als Annäherung an das Thema Arts Based Research aus Sicht der Praxis, insbesondere aus Sicht der Unternehmenspraxis Design Thinking, als mögliches Instrument zur Einbindung von Kreativität und Intuition darlegen. Hierzu werden Grundlagen von Design Thinking näher beschrieben. Da das Thema Design Thinking sehr praxisbezogen ist und noch nicht viel wissenschaftliche Beachtung fand, wäre es sinnvoll, in dieser Arbeit einige praktische Methoden und Fallbeispiele vorzustellen. Dies würde jedoch weit über den Umfang dieser Arbeit hinausgehen, dementsprechend ist im Rahmen dieser Arbeit lediglich eine Einführung in das Thema durch Beschreibung der Grundlagen möglich. Abschließend wird das Thema Arts Based Research um philosophische Betrachtungen zu Wirklichkeit und Wissen erweitert und die beiden Bereiche miteinander verknüpft.
