Biochemical Thermodynamics written by Juan S. Jiménez and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-20 with Science categories.

This book is dedicated to studying the thermodynamic bases of the structure-function relationship of proteins. It moves from the elementary principles of physical chemistry to the most current topics of biochemistry, including those that may be subject to some controversy. It considers thermodynamic properties related to the stability and function of proteins from the point of view of physics in a language that, without sacrificing conceptual rigor, is easy to read. Detailing the thermodynamics of protein-ligand interactions, protein naturation, allostery, oxidative phosphorylation and protein phosphorylation, the book will be of interest to students and teachers of chemistry, physics, biochemistry and biotechnology.

Biochemical Thermodynamics written by Malcolm N. Jones and has been published by Elsevier Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1988 with Science categories.

Since the first edition of Biochemical Thermodynamics in 1979, the application of thermodynamics to the study of biochemical and biological systems has continued to advance and has given rise to an expanding body of literature. These advances have arisen largely for two reasons. Firstly, the development of more sensitive and more versatile calorimetric equipment has extended the range of direct enthalpy measurements to smaller heat effects in a wide variety of systems. Secondly, rapid and significant advances have taken place in the field of molecular biology. Such developments have prompted the design of new and sophisticated experiments and also led to a better understanding of thermodynamic data in molecular terms. As with the first edition, the volume starts with studies on peptides and model systems and passes on to macromolecules and systems of increasing complexity. Apart from the sections dealing with basic thermodynamics most of the chapters are completely new and relate to literature which has appeared since the first edition.

Thermodynamics In Biology written by Enrico Di Cera and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Medical categories.

Enrico Di Cera, a rising star in biophysics, has organized a superb group of authors to write substantial chapters covering the most exciting and central issues relating to the bioenergetic aspects of proteins, nucleic acids, and their interactions. Topics covered in this book are protein and nucleic acid folding and stability, enzyme-substrate interactions, prediction of the affinity of complexes, electrostatics, and non-equilibrium aspects of protein function. The breadth of the topics covered in this book illustrates the growing importance of thermodynamic approaches in the study of biological phenomena. The book should be of wide interest to biophysicists, biochemists, and structural biologists.

Navigate the complexities of biochemical thermodynamics with Mathematica(r) Chemical reactions are studied under the constraints of constant temperature and constant pressure; biochemical reactions are studied under the additional constraints of pH and, perhaps, pMg or free concentrations of other metal ions. As more intensive variables are specified, more thermodynamic properties of a system are defined, and the equations that represent thermodynamic properties as a function of independent variables become more complicated. This sequel to Robert Alberty's popular Thermodynamics of Biochemical Reactions describes how researchers will find Mathematica(r) a simple and elegant tool, which makes it possible to perform complex calculations that would previously have been impractical. Biochemical Thermodynamics: Applications of Mathematica(r) provides a comprehensive and rigorous treatment of biochemical thermodynamics using Mathematica(r) to practically resolve thermodynamic issues. Topics covered include: * Thermodynamics of the dissociation of weak acids * Apparent equilibrium constants * Biochemical reactions at specified temperatures and various pHs * Uses of matrices in biochemical thermodynamics * Oxidoreductase, transferase, hydrolase, and lyase reactions * Reactions at 298.15K * Thermodynamics of the binding of ligands by proteins * Calorimetry of biochemical reactions Because Mathematica(r) allows the intermingling of text and calculations, this book has been written in Mathematica(r) and includes a CD-ROM containing the entire book along with macros that help scientists and engineers solve their particular problems.
